Big_Gun : can you post some DX10 pics? huge performance hit, how much? on 8800GTS/GTX card?

Ill try to post some later. ill need to reinstall it on my secondary OS again.

My rig:
E6600 CPU OC'd to 3.5 ghz
2 gigs of corsair dominator ram at 1066 mhz
8800 GTX graphics card
24 inch wide screen monitor (1920 x 1200 res)

On DX9 I average 59+ frames per second in towns. In the instanced adventure areas, I average 70+.

On DX10, I was getting 12 fps in towns and around 20 in the adventure areas.

Now, I havent tried it since the last patch. Could have improved, but i don;t think ti would still be a big enough improvement to match my DX 9 play.

Who the fuck are you and why can you play this game? And only 12-20fps instead of 60-70? Are you fucking us??? That would be the worst DX10 part ever.....

1) I was asked for the information and I gave it out trying to be nice. I didn't lie in my info about the rig I play on orthe performance i got in DX 10.

2) how many mmo's have you played with a ton of people on screen at once in DX10? I would guess none. So how do you know it is the worst DX10 part ever?

3) Who I am is none of your business.

The game is still far from finished dude, it's still in beta and shouldn't even be coming out soon, it's still quite buggy.

Huge performance drop with the last couple patches in DX10
I run Vista 64 and in DX 10 its about 25-35 fps on high

Is that it in the instanced areas? What do you get in town?
What's your system specs?

If this is the best DX 10 is going to be doing on my machine, guess I will be like everyone else and stick with XP till the wheels fall off.

lol big gun dude if you were in the initial first or second wave DX10 ws unplayable. now at least it manages 25 to 30 fps. So there has been alot of improvement & I am fully confident that with driver support & the final release the fps will be more in the 40 to 60 fps I wont say over 60 fps because I dont wanna shoot myself in the foot.

As I said, I havent played the latest build under DX 10. I will give the final a go in vista and see how it is. i did ike some of the effects in Vista. I have no doubt it will improve.

By the way everyone, single player demo is being released Friday.

Just to clarify this game is a Single Player hack & slash with a MP component. Yes it has some MMO elements but in no way shape or form is it a true MMO. It is simply a MP hack & slash.

Well, again. Bill Ropper says it is an MMO. . . gave the definition for an MMO in an iterview where he stated it... so I don't mind people calling it an mmo. Makes a rat's ass difference to me.

That's one of the things I find a little odd and funny at the same time, the dialogue in this game can be quite strange but it's meant to be humorous and I did laugh a bit when I first read some of the lines the NPC says.
(The merchants also say strange things and Techsmith 101 is a little... odd. - Though most NPC's are a little odd. Razz )

Ok ppl, game set to release in 2 weeks, gone gold now. Only 1 question for beta participants, is it really READY or another EA release to make money & finish it later?

The beta were playing is different than what they currently have, their always two step ahead of what were playing. The game still needs work but as it's a small company, they gotta release it to being in some more money. The game is very playable and most of the major bugs have been worked out and will be worked out before release but honestly I think it could have gone beta longer, but again, were playing a different version than what they have done, so I can't rightfully say.

I'd like to know as well, seems it started out a bit crap and now has gotten alot better, so most of the complaints are surrounding the early beta, right? So anyone have any advice whether its still worth buying or should I cancel my pre-order? In other words, wait and see if it is a complete mess that EA shovels out and leaves to rot? BTW I pre-ordered through walmart.com(yeah I know they suck but the royal dye is bitchin) so no beta key here.

Sorry, I don't buy into their "Your not playing the "REAL" version, and we wont let you" crap. Its a ploy to make sure the beta participants don't get disheartened by what they are seeing in the beta and cancel their pre-orders. Sure they have a different version then the one we are playing, they have a version a few days ahead as they make changes on a daily basis, and I don't believe anything more. We will find out for sure on Friday with the demo coming out.

All I will say is I don't think its ready and that my biggest complaint is the skill tree and melee, but its going retail so it does not matter. I for one will not be picking up my pre-order on release.

Well as mentioned previously, (It's announced on the official website as well.) the demo will be released today and should contain the most up to date build. Smile
(Beta might be further updated as well and the game hits retail in around two weeks.)

Beta is never the same release, it's one (or more) behind. Done propely, internal testing is 1 patch ahead.
But i am concerned about the quality. Flagship is a very small company, with a very interesting & promising game, but surely EA has been breathing down their neck, so i just wanna know how much is REALLY done outta 100%.

Even polished games, like Oblivion or Hl2 etc are being released on 95% at best (rarely). So i have no idea what to expect from Hellgate.

More details about what the demo will contain. Smile

Quote:

The demo is single-player-only, and features two of the title's six character classes Blademaster, a master of swordplay and the Marksman, "a cool, calculating, long-range specialist".

"In the demo," Flagship continues, "these heroes are able to battle through a small handful of storyline and side quests as they adventure through the streets and tunnels around London's Holborn Station."

http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=173926

The Marksman is quite a interesting class if you prefer to shoot your way trough the game similar to a FPS and the Blademaster is the melee specialist, especially at offense as the Guardian is mainly a defensive class.
(Evoker, Summoner and Engineer would be the other classes grouped as either Templars, Hunters or Cabalists.)

Is it worth buying at launch? No. After the first content patch and 2 bug fix releases? yes.

I'd honestly wait for SP1 for this game before I dug into it. The skill tree is still utter crap and you can go through the game without putting points in any skill tree area.

The preorder is worht it for me for the Founders Subscription alone. In fact, I ordered 2.

I'd rather pay the 150 dollars and not have to worry about a subscription than to pay the monthly.

I sat down and played the game for a few hours last night which I havent done since the last patch. I think the difficulty has been ramped up a bit... i actually nearly died a few times which hasn't been the case before. But, we are also only playing the 1st 3 acts and it is normal difficulty.

There is supposed to be a patch on Launch day so wo knows what goodies await us. My theory is that people who don't preorder are going to be wishing they had. But that's just my oppinion.

But, everyone can kinda see what the game is like come Friday i suppose.

his oppinion... obviously.

But I do SOMEWHAT agree with the skill tree thing. They have improved it though, and they have stated that they are going to continue to look at it and improve and tweak it more. I think the skills probly come into effect more when grouping. And some of the arguments against some of the skills are down right silly to me. For instance, people say that the stance skill for engineers (forgot the exact name of it) isn't worth getting. It basiclaly puts your engineer in a squat position and increases his range and damage. I found a kick ass sniper rifle, and this skill totally kicked ass with that skill.

Bill Ropper has also stated he doiesn't think people have figured out the best way to utilise skills as well.

But regardless, the weapons , armor, mods etc. They are all pretty cool.

You guys play the demo and judge for yourselves.
