Once again the board confidence looks shit to me. This is what happened when I played with Barcelona:

I started off bad, just 2W 4D 1L after 7 games. 5th place in the league. Then I won 3 straight games (rec 9-1, including a 3-0 away win vs. Valencia) and climbed to 3rd place, 4p behind leader.

Now the board is "worried about your *recent* form". Can my team's form *be* any better?

Maybe recent form takes into consideration last 5 games, which might explain why your success in the last three still left them worried. Not to mention that playing with such high flying team you're expected to win everything by a margin and constantly lead the pack. With Chelsea I sometime get "dull" game remarks after winning 2-0 or 3-0 against weak teams...I assume they expect 7 goals difference all time.

Is it your board worried or your fans? Fans are unreasonable so it's expected yes?

game has gone officially gold ?
I can't access their forums, they still did not upgrade their bandwith / servers, dammit
I have to agree theres a lot of moaners on their forums few days before the release.
I don't like the white ingame background. It looks shity to me. I hope there's a way to remove it.

I can sympathise with someone who has to CREATE a skin for a game as opposed to someone that IMPROVES a skin. The defaults are never the best because of this I think, and there has been quite a few changes to it since 2007 as far as I can tell at a glance. I personally prefer the Inverno skin or the latest Vista skin that's come out for 2007. Shame it's going to take these guys a while to get updated Sad

I'm not sure about sound in the demo - I don't play with it on anymore as they never ever update it these days. Try changing the sound cache to 'all' or 'none'.

I think its stupid your transfer budget is based on if you either select "title contender" "title winner" even crap clubs can choose that option.

I think it's a good thing. You're asked to state your ambition and you get the money you need. You could always choose "title winner", but what will happen if you end up 9th at the end of the season?

I also don't like the skin, maybe it's just a getting used to thing. It seems to be crowded, if you guys know what I mean. And I still can't understand why they won't put resolutions in the options. I'd like to choose 14400x900 ingame instead of a commandline.

I find that weird as well. You know you can choose the resolution by passing commands to the .exe though right?

Yep, but an ingame option should be included. Or the game should atleast recognize the Windows res.

lets put things into perspective you picked the best team in the game and you are only 3rd place thats not good enough for barca. Remember that guy was sacked from Real Madrid years ago and he even won the title.

Don't think they should be worried about form then. "Start of the season" or "league table position", sure.

Which I also find ridiculous, at least the part about winning every game by 4-5 goals. No team does that, not even Barca. Ok if they once in a while whine a little about a 2-
0 win at home vs. a crappy team, but that shouldn't really affect their overall confidence.

The fans are actually not more uphappy than the board, it seems. That I could understand, fans always want results faster.

Once again I think this comes down to "league position" rather than *recent* form. If we look at this from the other side: I think the board would be worried about my recent form if I had lost 5 straight games, but still lead the league by 10 points. I think it's only reasonable that they congratulate me on my recent excellent form even when I'm a few points behind after about a forth of the season played.

They fire their manager every year, and I don't think that would happen to you in FM. Too much politics than anything else I reckon.

Sadly no sound in the demo Sad

However if you have FM07 installed people are saying that you can copy the sound folder across to the same position as it is in the FM07 dir to the FM08 dir and sounds will work. I haven't tried it myself but the same thing did work well when the fm07 demo was out and you could move the sounds from fm06 across.

Hope this helps.

arg, last years version leaked like about a good 2-3 weeks before release.... whats going on now? Ha.

I dont understand SI on one thing - The game is gold... finalized... finished...nothing new... in production... all that stuff... And they said they are doing a E-License release of the game, IE- a pay then download version... Why do we have to wait until the CD version is released for the e-License version? If its finished and being produced... Just release the build online with e-License already, why wait until the CD version is in stores?

The shops get unhappy if the publisher gives someone else a head start. There's a lot of money in the first few days of a big game being released, gamers aren't the sort to wait, and shops want their cut. Sega can't afford to annoy them. BTW, once it's gold, it's all Sega. At this point, SI Games are just sitting back, taking holidays, doing PR work (like the blog on the official site, interesting reading!) and working on the first patch - because I'd bet you any money, they knew fine well that there are many bugs in the "finished" version and 80% of the mass of reported bugs in the demo and soon in the full game will already be in their bug tracking system. I've had few problems with the demo, just a few questionable balance issues, but I'm sure there are worse issues.

Hey, at least it's not Champ Man. That series is a joke. Rumour has it that CM08 has mistakes that the FM07 researcher for Southampton made (and has since corrected for FM08). Stealing the database? Hmm...

As for it not being leaked - I think SI and Sega were really pissed about last year, shops all over the place put it on their shelves days before they should and it was on the web even before that. Shops that respected the launch day complained about the head start so Sega gave the go-ahead for an early release despite ads all over the place giving the original date. Embarrassing, but they can't afford a boycott from GAME/EB/Gamestop (all the same company I think). Hell, EA would try very hard to avoid a boycott, Sega have no chance. Security will be tight this year!

Still no 3d highlights in this non-developing game, gave it up 2 years ago and went to fifa manager instead.

Each to their own. IMHO 3d highlights would cheapen the game, take massive development resources from important aspects and shift the focus to ever higher polygon player models. I campaigned to SI to go 2D as I felt the commentary wasn't enough to effectively manage the side, to see what needs done, but the 2D display nearly is. Things like a clearer way of seeing why a player didn't intercept would be nice (did he miskick, deliberately dummy it thinking a teammate was behind him, or was just just too high up to head?), but playing catch up to FIFA's poly count would destroy the rest of the game.

It is a developing game. I think it has developed more than FIFA manager and certainly more than FIFA08 or PES2008 appear to have. The developments have been in off the pitch player interaction, scouting, things which really matter but which aren't spectacular.

10 seasons in, I'm confident that 3D highlights would just slow down loading times and bore you.

3D highlights aren't possible yet. FIFA Manager is not a comparable game, FM is a simulation whilst FIFA manager is an 'arcade' game (and that's not me trying to be disparaging).
