The levels are much bigger and some places like the Antlion caves are extremely good looking, especially compared to the original Hl2 or Ep1 (Though Ep1 already had the HDR lighting also used here.) though I'm unsure exactly what's new engine-vise albeit I've noticed the new physics system and the developer commentary further explains how the game engine works.

The vortigaunts also look alot more impressive but most characters look like they did in Hl2 and Ep1 with a few new additions like the antlion grubs and shotgun combine.

I also found this little easter-egg statue thing which I assume will be used in that specific achievement.


(Quite a difficult achievement if I have to carry it around with me.)

The biggest change is in the lighting system, when you turn your flash light on it's no longer just a static light. It casts shadows across the room now and also drops my framerate to 3fps. Laughing

Textures are all the same shit as always with source games, muddey low res overall and then when they want to they throw out some crazy normal maps. Motion blur usage is perfect.

unleashed rls is based on russian? or valve changed nationality? Very Happy such a crap :/ is there way to change this? probably every english 'spoken' Very Happy texture is now in russian ;(

played it and never saw stuff like this so i dont get waht u r saying. those russian subs gives me a feeling playing some russian mod or smth Very Happy

The game is located in a russian area so most signs are in russian whereas the game itself is multilangual so by using the option menu you set the desired language. Smile
(I heard that Valve set City 17 in a eastern, russian enviroment, also noticed this in Ep2 when I looked trough the windows in the radar station and noticed the first russian sign on the buildings there.)

EDIT: Seems it was already mentioned.

I played English EP1 and there were a lot of this things. I gues this suppose to give us an idea where tha action takes place.

The game can be set to use either English, German, French or Russian language for the spoken audio, I'm unsure if the Unleashed release also allows this but I don't think it differs that much from the retail so it should be possible.

There were nothing about a Italian language however but perhaps there will atleast be subtitles for it later. Smile

Agli Italiani che chiedono se il gioco e' nella nostra lingua. Il gioco e' in Russo Tedesco Inglese e Francese come lingua ed e' solo sottotitolato in Italiano.

Se questa è la steamrip ci sono i sottotitoli, ma in ogni caso il parlato italiano non c'è né ci sarà, proprio perché il gioco a quanto pare non è stato doppiato Wink

Wow, this game is great!!! Half Life rules! It is just so awesome looking! The textures look fantastic.

The only problem is that it's Episodic. This long wait between episodes has killed episodic gaming for me. I wish they would go away from this. I think after Episode 3 it will go to Half Life 3. Who knows, but the down side to that is that it won't be available until 2012 or so. Great game but will be sad when I beat it and have to wait for more Valve goodness until Episode 3 comes out. Hopefully it will only take them 6 months to a year to get the 3rd Episode to the masses.

right click on hl2.exe, send to, desktop
go to the desktop, right click on the half 2 shortcut, properties, then, in the target add : -steam - game ep2 just after the "

You have to go to the properties of the shortcut and add -steam -game ep2 after the hl2.exe in the shortcut.

For example - hl2.exe -steam -game ep2

i tried what the nfo said about the shortcut but im still getting error
"setup file "gameinfo.txt" doesn't exist in subdirectory "hl2" check your -game parameter or VCONFIG setting"

well, I'm a little confused. can one simply extract the .rar's from unleashed's release, create the correct command line argument in the hl2.exe shortcut, and run the game? What ever happened to the copy protection?

Am I missing something here?

Can I activate this version on steam? I bought the game but servers are overloaded and cant downlod it Smile Figured torrent will be so much faster.
