I read in previews the expansion tied up some loose ends in the main plot, so seems at least a bit a continuation. So I decided to start from the very beginning, since I never finished the main game. Besides you have more choices when creating your character and I assume there are new items and such so probably worth it. Just me, tho.

I have played a while so far - seems to be a nice game, graphics and 3D engine performance have indeed got much better (compared to the original game). The fights are rather tough, I think, I imported my lev.19 Druid from my last save and the Spirit Army fight required some reloads.
I really dont hope it gets as difficult as the second expansion for Neverwinter Nights 1, where you met some type of "enemy hero party" near the end. That was the hardest fight I ever had in a RPG - and I had to give up playing because I could not beat them Sad

Now you should add a spoiler tag to your reply's quote.

I hope there is a cheat to stop the damn bar because it totally ruins the game.

press enter to open the chat window.
then type the following:

##DebugMode 1
##rs_ka_se_points_set(100.0)

now your soul bar is full again.

so far i really like the game, but some fights are more than tough. especially in the dream world, where you are alone for some time. but maybe is because i am a mage, and dont have that much hp/armor rating.

I enter in debug mode but the second command has no effect.

Did anybody beat the "Vampire Ancients" and the other high-ranking undead in the Death-God-Temple Level 2 ???
That difficulty is insane.... Confused

I am not sure if that is an optional quest only, but I left the temple for now
and am trying the other questlines first. maybe I will return later with higher level and better equipment

that spirit-meter feature is especially a problem for chars with
- evil/neutral/chaotic alignment since every use of "suppress" shifts you toward good/lawful. I could not level up my druid due to that and had to switch to another class (well, he was already level 20 so that was acceptable to try out another additional class, but that system is crap nevertheless)
- main magic focus since you cant rest as often as before to refresh spells. fighter chars are less affected.

I fact it was easy just use your tank in the stairs to block the Vampires and use your cleric to heal him and the the soc' will do the rest.

I like the game alot. you don't find like this good games nowadays.

Now this is good news.. at least you will have to conserve spells somewhat, and pick them more carefully. With the original system, high level wizards were ridiculously overpowered... You just lob a few fireballs after every corner, then rest. Repeat.

Then again, high level wizards can easily create some wands for a few gold pieces to overcome the situations where they've ran out of spells... Razz You can't reasonable spend your money in the game anyway.

Agreed. I personally haven't tried playing the exp Yet, so I can't say for sure if the soul bar is an all-around good thing or not...BUT, the ability to rest(almost anywhere) at anytime almost ruins the intensity of combat and feeling like you are always at risk. It's one thing about NWN I never came to terms with. At least with the BG and IWD games, you had the chance of being mauled halfway through resting by a horde of enemies while resting in an unsafe place.

Anyways I am glad they did something to rectify the 'rest anywhere anytime' dilemma that took away some of the drama of the original.

Maybe it needs some adjustment or tweaking to make it perfect, but the ability to rest after every encounter/running low on spells sure as hell was needing something to balance it out.

Honestly after playing for a while, I find myself looking to fill the soul bar more than anything else.

I didn't find it much of a problem for evil characters, especially when once you can rip the souls out of humanoids. hehe. That opens some interesting dialogue options Twisted Evil

As mentioned (Especially on the official forums Very Happy ) it's more or less the 1.07 beta patch with some data changes to make the stock game compatible with the expansion. Smile
(Though you need the hotfix linked to previously to avoid dialogue errors due to some mistake the developers made if you attempt to install the expansion over the 1.10 game. )

Anyone else experienced the problem that NWN2 just shuts down after like 15 Minutes? Not just NWN2, it shuts down windows with it. :-/

Everything else is just dandy, only this annoying problem.
