This is by far the best defrag available. They give you 4-5 different defragging options ranging from space to access. Access reanrages the structure to what you used more frequently to speed up stuff a bit.

Very Happy This remind me that:
Quote:
In my own testing, PerfectDisk (v8 is the latest) stomps Diskeeper (v2007 is the latest) and O&O Defrag (v8.5 is the latest) into the ground, both of 'em. Neither of the competitor's products could defrag a specially created 20GB image file I have with 259,000 fragments from 4K files.

I created it specifically for testing defragmentation software using a tiny command line defragger tool that has a "reverse" mode and can purposely fragment a drive like crazy - it's called a "shotgun" fragmenter because when it's done, it's like taking all those files, putting them on CDs/DVDs, and holding it at the end of a 12 gauge shotgun and pulling the trigger: the files get blasted all over the place in tiny pieces.

PerfectDisk v8 defragmented the entire partition in 1 hour 5 mins and in one single pass. Diskeeper v2007 took over 9 hours and required 7 passes. O&O v8.5 took 12 hours and 17 mins and 11 passes to fully defragment the drive back to 0% fragmentation.

I hate to burst bubbles but O&O 8.5 is old. 10.0 Pro has been out for awile now, O&O has different speeds, if you do access, ya it's going to take forever, they have modes you can use for speed but aren't as good as the ones that take longer.

does the same job and isn't as bloated or Scientology infested as the other two programs that were already mentioned

Weird, never had anything like that for years over more than a terabyte of storage, you may have defragmented already corrupted files/file system or your installation was faulty, i always try to run a chkdsk /p before defragmenting if i am unsure of the drive condition. Smile

Just tried PerfectDisk 8.0... Neutral Dear lord, how can they release such a hideous interface?! I know a program should not be judged by its interface, but ffs, minimal aesthetics would be nice! Going back to O&O 10. I wasn't impressed by the defrag. abilities of PD, while O&OD gives me much more control over the process.

Such as ? I haven't tried latest version. As for PD I just SMART defrag over night and the results are very good.
