*jumps all over the place*
(of course I have known about this for about 4 years, but it wasn't confirmed until recently)

I'm a big Blade Runner maniac, and I musssssssst abso-frikkin-lutely have this - naturally on blu-ray. Those still stuck with standard DVD is in for a disappointment though, as they will not get the Five-Disc Ultimate Collector's Edition with all the extras, as seen below.

Here's a new interview with Ridley Scott for those of you interested.

you know how sometimes things are created that cant possibly match up to their full potential yet? kinda creating things for the future?

i think the phrase "over the top" was created specifically for this point in time, and for that very collection right there.

not saying its not a fucking nice set of shit though... and i DO love my collectors edition shit and movie bonus material Very Happy

Don't get me wrong. I like, no I love this movie and I think that it ranks up there with Shawshank Redemption in the category of best adaptation of a book/short story, most of which are generally quite shit. I actually read the story first in a collection of stories by Philip Dick and saw the movie much later. But I could really see the whole thing coming to life.

It's just that I don't get the whole 'collector's edition' circus. It's funny but, I can actually picture you guys unpacking the thing out of it's special briefcase. And the Captain playing with his 'spinner'. Razz

A movie/story is a concept not a marketing opportunity. Owning a blu-ray dvd does not help you to understand how Deckard can 'humanize' Rachel by falling in love with her, yet has no qualms about retiring other androids for the same crime of feeling emotions.

If you love the movie as you say, you would understand why us Blade Runner fans are really drooling over this collector's edition.

I am part of 'us Blade Runner fans' and I do buy dvds (not just blank ones for back-up Very Happy) but I don't think this set improves on the movie or the story.

Maybe it's just me. For example, I am a fan of both Star Wars and Star Trek Shocked but I still don't own the must-have Klingon Cloaking Ship Mug or the gotta-have Darth Vader USB-stick. You might think that's extreme but wait till you get that Blade Runner 'spinner' and you'll be no better than the kid/adult wearing star wars pyjamas or the people who buy plastic light sabres and play with them while making weird sounds with their mouth. There's even versions with built in sound-effects. Razz

I guess everyone expresses their fanboy-ship in different ways. Enjoy your collector's edition. Smile

Just because it's a spinner-replica doesn't mean you have to toy with it, fly it around with your hand and make stupid sounds. It's a collectible, and for me it belongs on a shelf on the wall. But there is so much more on the collector's edition than just the replica which makes it worth getting.

They just used the same mould for the whole range.

You're not referring to a really large dildo or something like that I hope. Razz Seriously though I have no clue what a big daddy is and google was no help either unless you mean an Adam Sandler replica. Which would be even worse than a really large dildo. Very Happy

well, it's a bit more than that
like alien, like a fistful of dollars, it's a cornerstone that changed film as a medium
after being a concept, it's a brilliant film on top of that
and i think it deserves a few extra bucks
especially after being ignored for 25 years by the suits that own it

That is of course one man's opinion. Some people prefer the theatrical version over the director's cut even.

Indeed. Not to mention inspired a shitloads of other movies' visual style.
