the most complete genre in both musicality and range of emotions it can transport.
it can also be the genre you think you'll relate through the rest of your life.

i voted metal, but basically it s down to personal choice. Every genre has its benefits and its bad stuff. Still, in metal you ll find the biggest diversity of styles and emotions of any genre of the above.
From a psycho-physics stand-point it also offers the highest information-load for the auditory system, so alot of people just label it as "noise" because they either cant or dont want to understand the underlying complexity.

Exactly what i was thinking.. It can range from extremely brutal, to sad, dramatic intrumental music, to happy-sounding joyful music Smile

and it can be various things at the same time, there are many good tracks where you can be listening to a extremly powerful tune, and in the background there is a beautiful melody playing, sometime it just seems like we're listening to 2 songs at the same time, each one recalling very different emotions.

and plus, tecnhically, metal is where you can find the most "hard-to-play" tunes.
and nobody can be indifferent to those amazing drum and guitar solos you find in the greatest metal tracks.

gotta agree with metal. with the vast amount of sub-genres that it contains it really is difficult to go with anything else.

I'm a little biased of course.

metal has definitely great diversity, from heavy, doom to progressive, but I would say rock. From its early stages until today it has also shown great diversity and quality... but I also like to play some good metal rifs ...

I'm not used to call people ignorant, but your post has a big sign all over it saying "Warning Ignorance ahead"

to understand metal, first you have to understand what is music.

Music is about the capacity to transmit a feeling through a sound or song, and metal does it very well, the only genre that does it better than metal is classical music, but imo classical music is rather limited on the amount of feelings it can transport, metal on the other hand is able to reach the whole of human feelings, from anger to love, from rage to sexuality, from depression to excitement, from death to religion and so on. plus metal has borrowed deeply from classical music, and thus you can find some of the most well written and powerful melody's out there. Also, metal has a great array of sub genres, and the ones who have the so called guttering vocals has you mentioned in your post, are only some 2 to 3 genres, it's a great deal of ignorance to judge metal only from the 2 or 3 genres that use guttering vocals, and btw, the guttering vocals aren't without purpose, but as I said you can listen to almost 15 metal genres that doesn't include guttering vocals, I for one, love those vocals, but there are lots of people that are into metal and don't listen to death metal or black metal.

plus of all the musical genres above, hip-hop is the least technical and most incomplete genre, imo it's nothing more that some low IQ dude singing something that doens't make any sense, and then calling it poetry just because it have some rhymes, all this while there's a musical loop playing unchanged in the background.

Your degree of ignorance is on par with his. Obviously the both of you haven't been exposed to the right type of each opposing genre. All just pre-conceived notions, if you you have no experience with a genre then honestly you should reserve your judgement. Different strokes for different folks.

And that goes to the Game stan up there too, Jeez get off his nuts and try out some other types of music. (And I'm on the WESTSYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYDE!)
