Well i wanna ask two questions here to X360 owners who also played pes8 demo on PC.

Is the Xbox version any better?
Is Fifa 08 on xbox better than Pes 8 (at least at this stage)?

Not tried the PC version of either but on the Xbox Pro Evo pisses all over FIFA, as usual. Don't believe the hype, its the same as every year.

Just check pro evo forums, evo-web for example.
Soooo many people refuses to buy PES2008 because of lack of changes and improvements and claims that FIFA08 (next-gen version) is the best football simulator ever.
It's not the same FIFA.

I'll stick with PES, I only have PC.

PS. PES2008 is practically identicall on PC-X360-PS3
Some people says on X360 game is faster

Anyone managed to get rid of the damn FPS going down the drain on every cutscene and replay?

Well, I have 3 issues, and they're quite common among the users.

* FPS goes down the drain and stuttering takes over on every cutscene and replay.
* Overall the game feels too fast, I'll be very disappointed if the full game has the same speed. PES6' was much better.
* The running animation (especially when sprinting) is funny, to say the least.

Well i kinda guessed why FPS drops.

If you warch players closely while normal gameplay, there is no AA.
When you turn to replay, it looks like there's AAx8. Every linу looks just perfect. So the Lag is probably cause by system applying AA settings every time there's a replay.

Maybe in the release version they will just enable AA all the time.

Can you be bothered to force AA off and posting the results? I'm off to bed.

Actually the overwhelming opinion is that of disappointment over the demo, and exasperation that FIFA isn't even a viable alternative (so they just have to put up and shut up with PES).

Not surprising as some people have different PC's from other people Very Happy

I'm personally not having any adverse stuttering effects in replays, it can chug a little (as it always seems to in PES) when all the players are on the screen in a corner - but only during the game. The highlights reel at the end is free of this stutter.

I think the game grows on you. Cristiano Ronaldo is a fucking beast in the game though, so good.

Just tried it, doesn't work. The game itself looks the same, like there's no AA, still that little bit of lag with replay mode.

It doesn't even look a little bit better. Because the actual game & the replay mode are two different modes or smth.
While ingame, i can't even see player's eyes, there are just small shades. It's like the "replay" mode sets settings on EXTRA HIGH, while we play on medium.

The details are not in the actual game on purpose.. It would be too demanding and KONAMI cant be arsed to make any options Smile So we have to wait for LODmixer just like PES6.

I presume when all camera options are available, on let's say Wide of Far cameras this lack of details & aa will be hardly noticable.

BTW was Lodmixer for pes6 really able to improve gfx or detail?

Well if you played on wide cam you could see the enormous difference between the default and highest possible details. The default ones are really low usually... All those things like captain band, proper hair, fingers, etc were visible with LODmixer - it basically takes the whole LOD away lol Smile.

Ok if you set the details back to default and start a match... Take a look at the details of the players before and AFTER the whistle at the beginning, there the LOD kicks in. Or if you try to zoom out on a replay screen you can see the details changing without LODmixer.

The 360 version is quicker than last years but this is ridiculous, its like playing something designed for a 286 its that fast.

Is there any way to slow it down? I've tried turning v-sync on as well as turning off frame skipping and upping the resolution to max and its barely changed it. Its like watching Benny Hill playing footy Laughing

The game is better but with some new caveats and existing AI deficiencies, quirks & bugs remaining. Movement and control of the ball is more FIFA stylistically as well - not so much that it's unrecognisable as PES, but certainly enough that it feels more clunky and less responsive. You do get used to it after a while but the fluid movement of the previous PES games seems to have gone walkabouts.

Gameplay is as good as ever, there's no comparison - but there's changes here that beg the question 'why' and lack of improvements that beg the question 'wtf'. If I didn't know any better I'd say 'well done Konami, a good base to work from in the next version' - but I do know better and it's going to business as usual Sad

Dive... you press L1/L2/R1 so use the settings.exe to determine what keys they would be. To pull a player shirt is automatic. I'm not sure what determines it (whether player attributes have any influence, aggression for instance, but just hold down the 'pressure' button).

At a guess it probably helps with computers that can't keep up the frame-rates.

I think keyboards (at least, in the past) have an issue with pressing more than two or three keys simultaneously. I might be wrong?

yeap you are right i have an issue with my keyboard, if i press E+Q+Z at the same time it wont work because always only 2 keys work not the 3 at the same time, so i changed Q to Z wich is the key to cursor change, now it works, i have to get used to X now Smile
Dive is a imporant feauture, if it wasnt i wouldnt care.

Btw i noticed AA & AF doesnt work in this game, not even by forcing it in control panel.
And yes the game as no AA&AF in normal, but in Replay mode it does have AA enabled, the game activates aa by himself in replay mode.

Hope this is fixed by a patch or nvidia driver, if not i dont care, the game looks great.

I've not had any success with the dive feature as yet, but that might just be because it's only the one referee. AA was a problem with past PES ports, it won't be fixed in the meantime.

I'm a big fan of the series and this is the first time I've tried a version based on the 'new' engine. On medium settings (required for some reason on my system to select 1280 mode) it's debatable whether the game actually looks better than the last one. The animated crowd looks literally pathetic.

Anyway it's gameplay that makes this series, and even that isn't as good. The controls seem to be simplified, the close control with L1 didn't seem to work, found myself using R2 instead whilst R2 didn't seem to pull off the proper sidestep move. Then the flick-up with the right analog is pathetically easy to pull off. Other things like the passing including long balls seem pretty much identical, i.e. in line with the usual minor tweaking to pace, distance etc. Goalkeeper made a stupid mistake which wouldn't of happened in the last version (came of his legs into the goal when saving a penalty). Oh and the x-button pressure tackling isn't as good nor is the slide tackle (this seems simplified and has an annoying sound effect).

Still going to be a great game and it's a series where you don't want to break it by changing too much, but this is not the best version of pro evo, but nor was pes6..
