Oh well, this was a complete waste of a dual layer. I wish they would hurry up with DVD-DL RWs so I can erase overhyped shit like this and put something GOOD on it (Gears of war, Hell even bioshock would do) I give it a nice 6.5/10. (Mutilplayer is good, Single player is god awful)

I really enjoyed the game, sure the first parts of the game aren't that great but it gets better. Way better.
As for visual it's not stunning like the first time you saw GoW, but still it looks good enough, plays good and I think it's fun. I haven't played a game so much since Crackdown was released...

i couldnt believe what i seen.
MS giving 1up.com gamespot.com ign.com etc huge parcels.. full of controllers, live points, xbox live gold, consoles, dog tags, if this is not buying review scores what is lol what do these sites need this stuff for it is already given to them for free!

Seems like the most of the 'haters' in here judge this game only on the single-player? What about Multi-player, Co-Op, Theater mode, The Forge etc. I'm buying my copy on release (doesn't have a custom firmware console) and I'm fairly sure I will enjoy it alone and with friends.
One could argue the scores of the big sites, but thats how things are.. This doesn't only apply to the Halo games.

Halo 3 is a great game and deserves a nice 7/10 but 9.5 or even 10/10 is just not make any sense. I also think halo3 defs are super funny... One def of halo 3 talks like litterly 10mins about how unique the recording in halo 3 online is. I mean WTF dude counterstrike had that 10 years ago and it's nothing special.
Halo 3 is all hype hype hype. The game is good, but people make it in to something that it never ever will be.

In the base? I saw one guy banging on a door for some ammo and the other guy on the other side wouldnt let him in without a password! Haha I loled.

yeah very true.
Bioshock is kinda like Half-Life 2 without the mods.
Very interesting the first time through, but after that, no reason to play it ever again.
Halo 3 with the coop, forge, replays and best multiplayer on the system will live for years and thanks to coop even the campaign is fun time and time again.
I also don't think bioshock looks as good as halo 3, considering bioshock is always indoors and halo 3 has HUGE outdoor levels.
So yeah... for me Halo 3 is definitely the best console FPS at the moment. I don't understand why so many people are complaining about it. But to each his own!

How many games do you know where you can record your single player and coop games and then watch them, detach the camera, fly around, pause, slow motion, ....
That's definitely unique if you ask me.
Recording games on the PC might not be a new thing (for multiplayer games at least) but on a console it's totally new. Halo 3 sets the new multiplayer standard for consoles, just like halo 2 did when it came out.
I'm not saying it's the best looking game on the system, or the best game ever, but I just don't see how you could be disappointed with this game if you liked Halo 1 and 2.
And if you didn't like Halo 1 and 2 then why are you guys trolling around in here?

I don´t know about that.
From what I have read/seen, people/reviewers say that if you like halo you will like this. It´s not like you are buying the pig in the sack. People should know by now what the halo franshise delivers. It´s a halo game played like a halo game. Mind blowing ey?

" on a 44" HDTV it looks like a xbox 1 game "
no mention of halo 2
merely pointed out the gfx were very much like xbox 1 gfx and not next gen like we have seen on the 360 so far

Agree, but it still is not a 10/10.
Let's say game XYZ is just another shooter nothing special but still fun to play. But than game XYZ 2 comes up. And all people/reviewers say if you liked the first XYZ game you will love this one. And that is why we give this game 10/10.
Does not make much sense to me. It sounds like halo 2 reviews all over again, hell some dutch review writers said them selfs that they gave halo 2 way to high rating. Just because they got carried away with the whole "hype". And looking back to it now they would never gave the same rating that they gave back then. |

Any games of the past that partially relied on graphical prowess to engage the player are bound to come up short when reviewed by contemporary standards.

If Halo 3 was a PC shooter it would be nothing special. 7/10 right there. But in the console world which is filled with mediocre games and very few good FPS games, halo 3 stands out with an extremely high level of polish, a huge amount of features and the best multiplayer mode on the system.
Now if there were more good shooters on the 360 halo 3 would probably not do this well, but FPS games on consoles are rare, and good ones are even more rare. Most of them are just ports or single player games with half-assed multiplayer that will just collect dust after you played em for 10 hours.
And that's why I think Halo 3 deserves the high scores.
Apparently it's very hard to make a shooter that works well on consoles.
