Works for me without crack, just DT + YASU. Nevertheless deeper playtesting required. As due to the CP in the previous settlers games there were events such as pigs turning into gold and so on...

So far I like the game. I am on the third mission right now. A bit too much micromanagement with sermon at the cathedral, festivals at the marketplace, but it doesn’t kill me.

The most annoying part for me so far is the way trading works – no trade routes. So you are required to bring your hero to target’s village marketplace every time in order to initiate the trade.

Speaking of heroes, there are two heroes at the start of the game and you unlock the third one after second mission. Heroes have two abilities – the passive one and active one and they appear to be unique for each hero. Also they keep their promotions, but may turn out to be just for decorative purposes Smile

The game is sweet. It sure does bring back memories from the first Settlers and SII.
As Alex said theres a bit micromanagement, but it doesn't kill me Smile

The game is a sorta middleage village management game, you can sit for hours and watch your settlers going about gathering resources and whatever.
I saw a nice detail a few mins ago where a flock of wolves wandering about and came near my woodcutters... they were frightened and were screaming while running away from the flock. Animals live their lives, mating and getting babies which grow up. If you hunt too agressively in one place you might end up extincting the animals at that particular place, so you have to control the hunting a bit.

Birds fly around, crabs crawling in the sand on the beaches, seaweed in the sea etc. theres so much detail.

Seasons make the game different from the past RTS's around. In winter your grainfarms cant produce grain due to frost and snow. You cant fish in frozen lakes etc.

Animations are good, it looks like people walking about. Animals look realistic

I havent gotten very far in the game yet so i can't really come with a detailed review yet, but a note on the graphics and sounds:

Graphics isn't crysis graphics, but it's beautiful. Landscape is variating, and theres bushes, grass and trees everywhere, so the details in this game is amazing.

Theres sounds of sea and lakes, birds singing, wind blowing. Music is very calm and 'middleagey'.
When theres a crowd in the cities you can hear them walk, talk and the sound from carts rolling.

This is a fantastic game to play if your after something relaxing besides World in Conflict (also a fantastic game).
I'm a true Settlers fan, but the last games in the series didn't deliver at all... This game does..

As far as Ive seen now I would give the game a 8/10. Haven't discovered any bugs yet either.
A game you shouldn't miss out on if you played Settlers in the good old days and like the calm gameplay Smile

Now back to play some more and ill give more info as i discover Smile

Nice man!
I have the game on my HD already and will give it a wirl'. The trailer looked very nice,
and I have always liked the gameplay of the early Settlers (Didn't try the later ones).

This looks nice. I was a big fan of Settlers 2 (I think it was 2) back in the day, and really liked how relaxing it was. I recently tried to replay, but I found it had aged rather badly (I don't mind the graphics, but just overall). I then tried the games that came after, and didn't find them be nearly as good (they didn't even feel like part of the same series).

Gonna give this a whirl. I really enjoy slowerpaced games like Civilization and this. So much of the gaming industry is all about action (even RPGs are turning to actiongames), so I hope this will be a nice experience.

Runs fine here, I have slowdown only while textures load for the first time at the unxplored area on a map. But I run the game without crack & fix just DT + YASU

yep, without it, the game wouldn't even start (ingame -> error msg when trying to start campaign -> game crash)
the game runs fine and all, but after some time >1h i just cant save anymore and then it crashes.

I only get "slowdowns" when builing walls and try to scroll at the same time o.O

it's great, I like it a lot.
It stays a lot closer to settlers style gameplay than settlers 5 and adds some new stuff that fits in well and makes it more accessible.

can't wait to play it with some friends in multiplayer.

Runtime Error!

Program: G:\SETTLERS - Rise or an Empire\base\bin\Settlers6.exe

R6002
- floating point support not loaded
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Grabbed the CLONECD FiX
(BBLua51.dll) and then I had a cld.dll error
Found the cld.dll file in another FiX now it runs but...
When I go to Campaign or to set my Video Settings the game crashes to the above error.

I've done all the standard stuff to fix this problem:
Latest Daemon
Latest YASU
Latest Driectx
Latest NVIDIA Drivers
Scanned for Viruses
Updated Runtime Files
Windows updates

Suggestions or anyone else have\fix this problem yet?

Thanks alot for your time!

What second fix? There is only one fix as far as i know. You dont need yasu game is cracked. Did you disable all backround appz? AV? Vista or XP? Are you using some kind of 3rd party app for skinz? How old is youre windows installation?

Not sure about the 2nd FiX - Just that I installed Settlers as directed and applied the FiX (BBLua51.dll) and it said that the cld.dll file was missing still. This file was included in some of the other CLONECD FiXes that I'd found for this game on the internet.

I knew I didn't need YASU just heard that some had tried it so I did as well.
Yeah just my standard appz never have any problems with my games or PC this is the only thing I've seen in awhile.

XP Pro.
No 3rd party appz.
Just XP Daemon tools, and my anti virus.

Installation is only a couple months old.

THanks for your input.

You did something wrong. Path where you need to put dll.s is G:\Program Files\Ubisoft\THE SETTLERS - Rise of an Empire\base\bin

Reinstall it and use only fix from cloneDVD.

I was just taking a run at it again.

3rd re-install I'll keep the default installation directory and see if it has anything to do with the missing cld.dll file... we'll see what happens.
(bypassing my chronic organization skills)

I'll update my post if it works or doesn't.

Thanks again.

Nope.
This didn't work either.

INstalled the game then the FiX.
I had the same error about the cld.dll file missing.
Added the cld.dll file and it runs.
...until I try to change my graphics settings or start a campaign.

I think I'll give up until an official crack gets released or until it goes retail.

I could try on my other machine too I guess... maybe it has something to do with having the beta installed before? I went through the registry though and removed any references to The Settlers after my uninstall.

Oh well.

Hope I can enjoy it later. Wink

you get that error because you only installed the crack but NOT the FIX
you need
The Settlers VI Rise Of An Empire-CLONECD (3GB)
unrar it, install it, apply the crack from patch dir
AND
The Settlers VI Rise Of An Empire FIX-CLONECD (152kb)
unrar it, copy files to game dir
so my guess is, you only have the first and are wondering why it doesn't work -.-
