Flyboys is quite good...the story of the first airplane fighter. And top gun is not that good.

Tried Pearl Harbor ( - all the love crap) and its really good on surround.

flyboys has good combat, if you can get past the bullshit story

pearl harbor, same thing... 2 hours of shit, 45 minutes of good combat.

if you can stand anime, you might want to give area88 a try.

Maybe not dogfighting (all the time) but sure a pretty good film
"Memphis Belle"
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0100133/

"Battle of Britain" old but not to bad
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064072/

Not a "pure" air combat film, but Just found the COMPLETE "The Longest Day"
STREAMING Online!
You need a DivX plug in to watch it
http://stage6.divx.com/WAR-MOVIES/video/1263990/The-Longest-Day-part1
http://stage6.divx.com/WAR-MOVIES/video/1263738/The-Longest-Day-part2

Actually they have a lot of "War" stuff on that site.

what can i say, the original poster asked for 'good' air combat movies Very Happy even by dumb fun over the top action standards, it was silly.... ill give you that that 4 and a half minutes worth of action in the entire...2 hours was it? film, was DECENT, but man... it almost made xxx2 look respectable Smile

and no, i stopped taking my pills about 4 months ago, and since then have had virtually no complaints from the neighbours.

He asked for an air combat movie because fighter planes tend to make a nice 6.1 flyby (or whatever number DTS is) with a loud VROOM. Perfect choice for testing DTS, I say

One single sound is not good enough to test a DTS system, you need the entire sound spectrum.

Check here for some alternatives, so you don't have to waste your time watching an abysmal, pile of shit movie to "test" your system (not a complete list, I also suggest Batman Begins and The Day After Tomorrow among others): http://www.dts.com/digitalcinema//find/index.php?ftID=current_releases

Behind enemy lines has a pretty cool sequence of a jet trying to out run some surface to air missile batterys that i think lasts around 10 minutes.
but its more about a guy trying to escape a secret police enforcer and his army for the majority of the film.

found a clip of whats nearly the whole flight scene

great film though imo

Seconded. But do yourself a favor and pick it up as Les Chevaliers Du Ciel and avoid the awful English dubbing.
