I just finish installing the game, afther making it on 3 DVD's. It is working perfect, and there is even space (on the first) dvd for some of the movie trailers (i left only the HI res versions).

So 10x a lot Very Happy

like this:
J:\games\stranglehold\Binaries\Retail-Stranglehold.exe -language=eng -ResX=1280 -ResY=1024

so what is wrong?

WOW.

So I get to a boss fight, and I hide behind a pillar. Sure enough, the pillar goes boom, he had a machinegun afterall.

So I run up a flight of stairs... AND HE SHOOTS OUT THE FLOOR. I fell on him and shot the foot off a statue, it promptly collapsed onto him. So badass.

Hi All,

I was wondering if someone could help me. I installed Stranglehold and put the crack into the game, but the problem that i am having is when i then start the game it gets past the first part where a picture with bullets and then goes past a logo (i guess its the logo of the guys who made the game) but then after that a black screen keeps flashing up and i can't get anywhere after that.

Did anyone else have the same problem? if so can you let me know how you got past it please?

Thanking you in advance,

Kreagon.

SM3.0 required. X800 series does not have SM3 support.

x800 = SM 2.0b whereas the game REQUIRES shader model 3.0 due to how the shaders work (Unreal Engine 3 does support SM 2.0 however.) for ATI would be the X1300 and up though for games like this I would recommend atleast a X1600 and for NVIDIA it would be the 6 serie such as the 6800 though I would recommend the more powerfull 7 serie in order to get acceptable performance. Smile

EDIT: Seems it was already answered by the above user. Smile

The 8600 isn't that bad is it? think it compares to a 7600 (Or was it a 7800?) but with support for DX10 and such. Smile
(Game runs fine for me with a 7800GTX though it can get a little choppy due to me forcing the game to run at 1920x1200 wich is a little to high for this card, especially in newer games.)

Correct, you overwrite the old exe with the new one but I would make a backup just in case. Smile

You could also try the latest official drivers or even the latest beta drivers found here:
http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_downloads_rel70betadriver.html
(Quite a few bugfixes and even improves performance in titles like Crysis, Hellgate, World in Conflict and of particular interest here it also improves compatability with Bioshock wich uses the same engine as Stranglehold, Unreal engine 3.0)

I didn't have any major problems with game but I was already using the 163.67 drivers when I first started playing.
(Game crashed alot though, especially in the 1920x1200 resolution when using the cracked exe so I've switched to the mini-image by Netshow and it's only 100KB compared to the full size maxi images wich in this case would have been 12.7GB)

EDIT: Should also note that the Gamespy review mentions alot of crash related issues as well, even a few BSOD issues and black screens. Exclamation
(Thankfully the frequent checkpoints prevent any real loss when the game crashes.)

Just to make sure there aren't any refresh rate problems or resolution issues create a shortcut to the game and apply the following commands to it.

-resx=XXXX -resy=XXXX (ie 1024 and 768 or 1280/1024)
(Game defaults to 1024x768 when it first starts.)

-windowed
(To check if it's the refresh rate as it won't be overriden in windowed mode.)

Wich would give the following:

Quote:

Example:

"C:\Program Files\Midway Home Entertainment\Stranglehold Demo\Binaries\Retail-Stranglehold.exe" -language=eng -resx=1280 -resy=720 -windowed

(Taken from official support page: Link )

EDIT: Just to steer back on topic to game related discussion I just finished the game and am currently trying to unlock the extras via the Woo shop. Laughing
(Didn't unlock "Hard Boiled" difficulty though, guess I need A++ ratings with hard the difficulty.)

The 8600 is the mid-end of the Geforce 8 serie but it's still quite powerfull in most DX9 games though it will probably struggle with DX10 but it depends on the usual settings and the resolution and whatever tweaks the drivers can do to improve performance. Smile

EDIT: Interesting, thanks for confirming that. Smile
