well like i said... thats what happens when shit groups get there first

but also, realise that its 2 and a half hours long, with ac3 and at 640x272...

they should have gone down to 608x256 res for a film this long... im just happy they included 5.1 and didnt do it mp3!!

but i dont care. this'll do for tonights movie watch, and ill pick up the hd when it comes out in a few weeks.

Dunno why people don't use x264 for dvd rips. Could get a full res dvd rip in 700mb.

i dont think theres that many standalone players that could run that codec... besides, you need a beefier computer to run x264 than xvid... finally, the scene moves slowly... took long enough to ditch divx as it was... but yeah i agree, now that i have a pc that doesnt have any probs with that codec, id love to see rips using it... lets just be happy that hd rips are using it...

SD rips don't really require that much of a PC to run properly. Even 720p HD rips aren't that demanding at most (some with v. high bitrates are, but they are rare).

Yah, my old xp2500 (think 1.8ghz?) could run 720p perfectly. DVD res would be easy.

Truth is, scene just moves too slow Sad Wish someone would post the dvd9's to usenet so someone could do a good job encoding!

tell that to my 1.7ghz 6 year old pc Very Happy i have the transformers movie (the good one, not the 2007 one) as an x264 encode, and it didnt play properly on my old machine... i agree that on most current machines they'll play just fine, but xvid encoded vids are far more spec friendly to run.

actually my media pc doesnt like 720p vids either... just cant play em without stuttering or pausing every now and then... but to be fair, i think its about time the thing had a format, because its got 4 years of junk on it...

With HD rips, the key is to defrag the HDDs often. Because of the high bitrate, at times the drives can't fetch the data fast enough due to fragmentation.

Pffft 2007 was awesome!

Tried CoreAVC? I can't run shit on my xp2500 with ffdshow or anything else. But CoreAVC with no deblocking works fine.

yeah i figured as much... the whole other pc needs a massive cleanout, im sure 720 and maybe even 1080's might run ok afterwards.

and @noob
im not saying the 2007 one was shit, but the original one is awsomER!! ive seen entire 100+ million dollar major films that dont even come close to being as kickass as the first 20 minutes of the original transformers movie!!! i mean come ON!! that stuff is just golden.

edit: tried your suggestion... i have coreavc on this pc, but not on my media one (never really dealt with x264 on it, so never needed to bother) - anyway, installed avc on the other machine, and used that instead of ffdshow, and 720's are now (atleast so far) playable... 1080's still definately a no-go on that machine though, but having 720's playable is definately good enough. cheers for the suggestion.

ok watched the movie last night, and like i assumed, as an action movie it was quite enjoyable, but as a transformers movie it was dissapointing... starscream was CRIMINALLY underused, especially given that hes the best freakin decepticon... none of the characters had any personality or were in any way engaging, except bumblebee and maybe soundwave and optimus, but everyone else was just filler... and killing jazz... oh man.. the guy who voiced jazz is dead, so putting jazz in the movie for NO other reason than to have him killed, was pretty fucking lame i gotta say... theres so many other average boring autobots, they could easily have picked one of them to shove in the movie just for kill-fodder.

all in all, the film had cool action but no heart or emotion... its a transformers movie in name only.. and im not one of those people who bitched about changing the designs, although classic optimus is still superior, i liked the designs they went with... i just felt that all the things that made the original g1 series and movie great, were missing from the film - i wish bay would have watched atleast some of the original series, or if he had, i wish he hadnt decided to ignore everything about it.

yeah this was a very poor transformers film, but a very enjoyable action/cgi/fun film. its hard to tell if i was dissapointed, because it was exactly how i expected it to be, but i was hoping i was wrong.

soundwave wasnt in the movie.....
and btw the dvdr had 3 5.1 audio tracks, 400mb each. so thats why the video sucks so much.

i assumed that radio thing was their updated version of soundwave... but now that i do some searching i see they turned frenzy from a tape into a boombox... right... why didnt they just make optimus prime a freakin speedboat Very Happy doesnt change the fact that the rest of the crap i said was right... 2 and a half hours long, and zero character development except for spike...uh.. sam... whatever theyre calling him now Very Happy

It's a shit quality, they are foolish to let stay the 3 audio tracks in a 2 and a half hours long movie.
It’s seens like a inexperienced newbie that rips a dvd9

i enjoyed the 2nd half of the movie as an action-fest. but as a transformers film it failed badly... and bay is doing a sequel.. whaaaaa.. i wonder what well known transformers he'll introduce... give 3 speaking lines too, fuck up the character, then have him unceremoniously ripped in fucking half Sad oooh i know... bay can bring in hot rod! turn him into a fucking mini, give him a really wicked two-tone paint job but without any flames, and turn him into a flamboyant science officer, with two and a half speaking lines:

"look out, its the decepticons!"
"the decepticons are shooting!"
"oww!"

and have his head explode. then at the end of the fight, the autobots all gather around and optimus goes 'oh.. look.. hot rod is dead'
bumblebee then goes 'aww gee what a tragedy, or whatever... so whats for dinner?'

or how about ultra magnus... who dies in the first 5 minutes of the film without even getting one speaking line apart from 'whoops', when he blows a tire while driving down the road, flips, and crashes to a firey death at the bottom of a fucking canyon..
