Just finished the game, on the normal difficulty, game was good overall, a tad short, but on the other hand I've no idea what else they could fit into the story.
My thoughts on the ending, will include major spoilers so beware :
Spoiler: | The ending was worthless, as with all the other Halo games.
In the end you see the Coronel (not the black guy) at a funeral doing the classical brave-men-speech, blablabla. He finishes off talking with the Arbiter, saying he can't believe MasterChief is dead. It then zooms out to the Arbiters ship, where he says he's wants to go back to their home, to see what it's like when it's peace and all, that part was okey I guess. But then it just ends with a stupid Thanks from bungie text.
UM, HELLO? What about MasterChief??? You're thanking me for playing through your fucking trilogy, and what do I get? I can't even see if he's really dead? God, I fucking despise this ending.
At least I got to know MasterChief's real name, John. But we don't get to see his face, of course not.
So what are we left with?
* Not finding out what happened to MasterChief/John.
* Cheap, cliché ending with MC presumably a martyr.
* A stupid thank you from bungie for playing their overrated game trilogy. |
Mm, great game...
Used to be Yondaime but forgot pass and what email I used on it. Doh. I had ~1200 posts or something, been around since NForce started or so, so i'm no new guy.

Yeah I just finished it too. The ending sucked. But generally good game, enjoyable. But the checkpoints are a disaster. Sometimes you have a checkpoint every 30 seconds, sometimes you can be a full 10 minutes without one.

For the one's who finished it (Mi62 and Fyfan). Can you say something about:
1. The quality off the second part levels from the game. In halo2 there were some awful levels and in halo1 there were some mirrored versions + the boring library.
2. Its already known that the elites are helping the humens. Are there more govenant who helps the MC (like some grunts or hunters)
Thanks

Here are the answers:
Spoiler: | 1. I don't understand what you mean by "second part levels", but I thought all maps were fun and pretty cool. There were some levels that reminded me off Halo 1 a lot. And one level had a part in it that was exactly like Halo 1, can't say why though, would be too much of a spoiler. But, all levels were fun, except the first one which I absolutely hated.
And it didn't feel like they reused a lot off levels over and over again.
2. Elites help MC/humans, grunts do not, and they are both in the game. |

Thx,
sounds good. In halo2 I liked the first half very much. But after Delta Halo there were some really bad levels. Also in Halo1 the second half was a bit disappointing because off the mirrored versions.

Spoiler: |
let me guess, the last level off halo3 look likes the second level off halo1; 'Halo'

I just played a nice 2h session with no problems in the game (got to the highway), then suddenly my xbox tells me i disconnected from XBL and should please update the console software. Is this telling me that I am going to get banned, or is this a standard update, as I read from other members on xbox-scene?

Maybe I need to no more about the story from the previous 2 halo games. I'm glad I didn't get flamed to hell for my opinions but I'm also not suprised people have simular views as me. Is there going to be a halo 4 or not. I think they should stop with this franchise now.

halo 3 is the last game of a trilogy.
there are going to be more games in the halo universe, but you probably won't be playing master chief in those games.
Halo Wars, the RTS for Xbox360 is an example of such a game.
And then I'm sure there will eventually be more halo games similar to the ones we're used to know.
There are a lot of cool stories to tell.
Like a prequel to Halo, where master chief is not the only spartan left.
Before the fall of reach right before the beginning of Halo, there were still over a hundred spartans around.
anyway, I think Halo 3 is lots of fun. It might not be the best looking game ever, and probably not revolutionary either, but it's fun and that is what really counts.
Plus the Co-op gives the single player campaign so much replay value...

Just finished the whole campain on normal.
Took me about 7 hours.
I would give it a 9.0. Really fascinating, the story is a bit confusing at the end tough.
But you will find out for yourself....
Great Game...

I'm leery about playing any "releases" of this game, even after the release date.
What easier way can Microsoft find 100% truly hacked systems - leak a "special" version of the game that simply notes that it ran in your Xbox 360 and notifies the home base that it ran - "it" specifically being a slightly altered version of Halo 3 leaked as an "internal" and copied and scene-released by eager group?
Simple enough to do it, Microsoft can alter anything they want, and it's enough that you ran their "special" version, since it would never actually be released into retail; just a small routine or two added, the new executable signed in that Xbox/Xbox360 vault ten miles underground in Redmond. The image created, posted to the torrents and usenet a week ahead of schedule.
Oh, and don't forget to squash those rumors about a ban hammer for early players.
Wait a few weeks, then drop the hammer on all those who played the slightly altered "scene release" version. Do it randomly, phased in (tie the phases into some odd common factor to throw off the modding community).
Oh yeah... I do find it odd that this version is "region free". Why aren't you guys more suspicious?

Although I think it's highly unlikely that what you're speculating about is the case, it's what I would do. I can't see why Microsoft haven't done something like that already anyway.

The best thing about Halo 3 is atmosphere. Solid gameplay, nice graphics, and atmosphere in spades. On some missions it really does seem like war on a planetary scale. Bungie done good!
Not game of the year, but probably multiplayer game of the year.
