I think this game is great, and like Ground Control 2, it has a lot of tactical depth. People who want basebuilding should just go back to crappy C&C3, where just about the only thing matters is strength in numbers.

DX9 vs. DX10 comparison: http://www.gamespot.com/features/6179006/p-4.html

Only difference is the sun-rays from the clouds (one overlay effect in other wowrds). DX10 again proving to be quite overrated.

Rolling Eyes Hahaha, funny that they made a picture of a static town. It they were to capture a screen in battle, you'd see how DX10 looks in this game.

Well, LeoNatan, why don't you then? Wink

I am guessing: soft particles. Better explosions, right?

Something along the lines, but I'm in XP now, and won't be booting to Vista in the next few days.

I won't argue that it's not subtle, but it's not as subtle as those stupid GS shots make it look. And I'll say this (again and again): When a game is primarily made as DX9 game and later DX10 additions are added, it's won't show DX10's full potential.

I just wonder why dual monitor support is DX10 only... it's not like games haven't been able to use 2 monitors without it.
Supreme Commander did it just fine so why is it Dx10 only here? Is there a technical reason for that or is it just a deal with nividia to make people go buy DX10 hardware?

I wouldn't put it past them. Same with nvidia/ati. DX10 and Vista are doing horrible right now. So they need a way to get people to move over.

vista is actually doing pretty well now. I recently saw another new test of vista vs xp performance wise, and there are some games where vista actually has higher performance than xp, and not many games left where vista is slower than xp.

but yeah dx10 isnt really worth it at the moment.

I agree with you fully MD. I think that is what i miss aswel.. This game just doesnt feel like something great like starcraft, command and conquer or company of heroes did. I think it should be categorized as "action rts" or something. It doesn't really have much depth, i mean online you play in a team right? you can only chose one form of units , infantry , air, tanks etc etc and have to rely fully on your team mates to have fun because if one guy isnt doing his job thats it, the game is spoilt for everyone.

The missions just feel so.. "empty" that is the best way i can describe the game, nice on the outside, hollow on the inside. I knew there was something i didnt like about the game when i was doing training, 5 small "days" of the training session and thats it? so basically all i do is point and click units to the front line and reinforce? they blow some stuff up, the artillery guy bombs a few buildings and then we repeat..

Im gonna go to town tomorrow and buy company of heroes instead of this.

Dont get me wrong its not a "bad" game just really seems shallow and boring with excellent graphics. And i now know how much i love resource and base building, not to mention micro management and strategy over action.

Understand what you mean, I have always felt the other way around, the action is what I like and the resources and basebuilding makes me yawn. That's why im loving it and you arent. We should combine my minireview with yours and we'd have a complete and unbiased review Very Happy

loved the story in this game, the visual kicks ass, but i agree with watergem its a bit "hollow"

sure its fun for awile, but i miss building bases. it doesnt need to be like C&C, more like company of heroes, witch i love btw.

Not a bad game, I don't really follow RTS's of any sort much more cause nothing new has been done. I like the modern day USA gets raped theme lol. The beginning video was bad ass. Explosions are quite the eye candy to get drawn into, only other game that had good explosions was C&C 3

Same here and the game sure feels "heavy" on high settings.

I got 21 fps on average in the benchmark.
Dx10 mode, max detail, 1680x1050,4xAA,4xAF

Rig:
8800GTS 640
Core 2 E6600
2gb ram

The game runs very good tho, only in the last 2 missions of the campaign there is some bad slowdown.

The games seems smoother on the missions that in the benchmark. Anyway it's too heavy nonetheless. This an rts not a next gen dx10 fps.

Ya fuck what the game says about performance on your rig. I turned on full AA and Anisotropy(sp?) with high textures and I handle it just fine.

And you know what else? The hell with the whole game, just keep calling in air strikes and watch the explosions! YA!!!! *boom boom boom boom*

They should have made World In Conflict Hybrid. If you want an action RTS click here. If you want to basebuild and gather resources click here. That would have been cool! They could have even named this game World In Conflict The Best of Both Worlds!

So hopefully we'll see a Stranglehold release today Smile Fingers X

Ah! I have just found out what's missing here, apparently when they where printing the DVD cases for this some fool went and printed GAME on the box when it should have been VIDEO. This gets number 2 in my top of the plops waste of time downloads. Hehe, it even makes C&C look good.
