The graphics in this game are a let down IMO. Gameplay is the same old Halo which is alright with me.

after playing the game for about two hours I gotta say I do enjoy it. The halo feeling is there, graphics are totally ok only thing I don't like are the weapon sounds. They are too low and I can't understand why they made them so low. As for the punch of the weapons I think the Shotgun is still great and when you walk around with a mounted weapon it's sweet... 
So let's break it down a bit,
Graphics, even though some parts aren't THAT impressive the general quality of the graphics is great. Shadows, details and most of the stuff is looking as good as it need to. Add the fact that the game feel very sharp graphics wise and I am happy. That is one of the best things with the game, that the graphic is sharp. I really hate games with blurry textures and stuff.
Sound.. As I have said and many others the problem is the low volume of all weapons. I would love to be able to bump up the weapon sounds without changing the other sounds. Moreove I gotta say that the weapon sounds are Ok but the volume breaks it all... 
Feeling, it's good old Halo with masterchief and everything else in the "universe". High jumps, good runspeed and the usual "I-feel-a-little-better-then-everyone-else" is still there. However I do think that Halo 3 is a little harder and you can't take as much damage as in Halo or Halo 2. That's great because it makes you use tactics more and stops you from all the gun and run.
Weapons, this time around I have a harder time then before to decide what weapons I am going to use. The Gravity Hammer, the Shotgun, which of the 2 assault rifles, the pistol and the new guns... It's hard to decide but I find myself running around a lot with melee and closecombat weapons. It's great nonetheless.
Even though I haven't played that much I have really enjoyed the time so far and I can barely wait for some nice coop action in the game.

Played the first lvl, gfx are very acceptable, but no AA:S, gameplay is like halo1 and 2 so sucks..

Just a warning that I thought I would post in here. I have confirmed on 2 different boxes now that if you have a XSATA hooked up you CAN NOT load maps in halo 3... I have no idea why yet but just in case someone runs into the issues I have disconnect your XSATA before playing!

Anyone having problems with their save file dissapearing after you save an quit..which means you have to start over? Happened to me..twice now.

save and out is only when you are logged in your xbl account. |

Mayvbe I should be so snappy. Yes..I'm signed into my profile..I could continue my solo game on rebooting my xbox..then suddenly the save is gone. It can even be found when broswing the saves from the 360's dash...gone.

I've played the game for two hours now, and like some say, graphics could be better.
The least I expected from this game were awesome graphics, I mean, it should have it, seeing as how Bungie has boasted about it ever since they announced the game. But nope, game looks average at best, i'm not impressed at all.
Gameplay is classic, same as Halo 1 and 2, nothing more to it really, if you enjoyed the gameplay in the other two games, you'll prolly like this one too. It's okeyish.
But graphics should've been better, graphics aint everything, but yeah, it looks like shit in some areas, and in most areas it just looks okey. Not really up to standard.
I loved Halo 1, I hated Halo 2 and I feel nothing from Halo 3. :/
The split screen deathmatch is pretty fun though, especially with some of the newer vehicles.
Used to be Yondaime but forgot pass and what email I used on it. Doh. I had ~1200 posts or something, been around since NForce started or so, so i'm no new guy.

This is the first Halo game I played and tbh I think its crap.
The graphics are piss poor and the AI is dumb as hell. The enemy character design is dreadful they look shit and the design of the guns are a joke as well but I do like some of the scopes. So far the story is boring as well. I prob won't pick it up and play again actually, what a waste of disc.
What I do like is the blue cross hair, scopes and the fact you can see the guys legs.
I havn't tried multiplayer yet. I understand the multiplayer for the previos halo games was popular so if your getting this for the multiplayer then I guess you can't go wrong if your liked it before but pfft campaign mode is wank.
I just can't beleive the hype for this game and the reviews its getting.

The AI is dumb, very.. dumb. I'm playing on legendary, they're still dumb, the only difference between Legendary and Easy is that you take a lot more damage, but the ai is still as stupid.
I often find them just standing still, even though i'm shooting one of their friends 5 feet from them.
The AI in Halo 1 and 2 was the same. :<

i was never a fan of the halo series. and to be honest, halo 3 is just "another" shooter for me. its good. but i simply fail to understand what people love so much in it. surely, it has a deep story(or at least, deeper than most fps'es) but any other way... it doesnt offer anything new.
graphically the games a huge disappointment, at parts, it really feels like im playing an xbox 1 game on 720p.
the gameplay itself is just way too fast paced for me sometimes, although i like that u need some kind of strategy, because its pretty easy to die. the weapons are... well, lets just say, i dont really like their design.
the enemies... well, they are cool, except for the small ones which sound like children, which kinda ruins the experience for me. the ai can be very good and very bad at the same time ,but its still better than the average.
the driving sucks, imho, the control scheme for driving is just plain bad.
id give it around 75%. a great FPS, but nothing more.

i love it, driving is excellent - nothing wrong with the control system, all down to personal taste, love the massive brutes. How anyone can say it looks no better than Halo1 or 2 need there eyes testing, yeah it can be abit Blah inside by Bungie have always said that this wouldn't change due to the nature of the game design (cartoony). If you like halo then you love this, all i see are people who neither loved halo and expected much more than what their getting.
BTW has anyone played online yet

I loved Halo, but not enough to blindly lov this one regardless of it's shortcomings. The graphical issues have nothing to do with the styl of the art, it's the muddy low res textures and lack of AA that fuck it up. It does look better than Halo 2..but not by much. C"mon..be honest with yourself.

Really i never had so much fun in my life then with halo 3 the graphics are beautiful and the gameplay is the best i have seen in a long time! the new verhicles steer brilliantly and the brutes are so cool just as the new weapons you have, im voting yes voor GOTY

I gotta say, the game is growing on me, but I still feel it's inferior in terms of AI and graphics, but I do love driving in this game. Okey shooter, definitely. You guys should try split screen dm if you've got 3 friends and a big tv, it's loads of fun!
