I never tried shrimps, oysters and sushis.
1. I don't eat raw food.
2. Oysters look too 'unconventional'
3. Shrimps look like a bug Razz

Though I should try one of them once.

I love fishes when they're well made, but the other sea food is too spooky

(OH NOES THERE"S AN OCTOPUS ON MY PLATE!!!)

It doesn't taste like a bug tho, just eat it battered like a lot of people do.



Tastes really good after deep frying Very Happy

My personal favorite is shrimp scampi, it's cooked in a butter garlic sauce that's yum! Even better when using it in alfredo.

Isn't the reason you don't eat those because you're Jewish?

If you're not eating them because of religious reasons then fair play. But if you're not eating them because you don't like the look of them, then you're missing out. Try prawns just once in your life. Yum. My mouths watering at the thought of them right now.

I'm not a religious Jew, I really don't care about the rules, basically I can eat anything. Razz
The thing is, that because a lot of Jews do keep the rules, this kind of food is not so popular, so I haven't had many chances to try it out.

lol, are 'Prawns' also called Kalamari? or is it something else?

Ahh I see. On the plate it's hard to spot the difference for a noob like me Razz

In Jerusalem pork will be a bit of a problem to get. I only know about one pizzeria and one hamburger restaurants that are selling it as part of their meals.Also, I don't know about any butchery that sells it. But I know that in other cities such as Tel-Aviv it's a bit easier to get it.

I love sushi it is one of my favourite foods. Those soy sauce fish are cool. I want some.
I have to agree with Waldo, I have seen much better sushi platters.

I haven’t had Mackerel but I have caught it a bunch of times kayaking. I thought it was a salmon Sad We always throw it back because it is suppose to be oily and fishy. I still want to try it tho.

Try shrimp or prawns. Prawns are better tho. It is a sweeter white meat. Kinda springy texture. Shouldn’t be rubbery if done right. Same with squid. I do know someone who at a bug. It was a sand flee that roasted it’s on a fire. He said it tasted like shrimp.

I won’t recommend raw oysters. There are loads of disease you can get from them. Norwalk, Hep A, I had an undercooked one and it knocked me on my ass for a week.
My ex is Jewish and he loves all that stuff. Favourite food would be bacon. Obviously he's not religious. His dad grew up in Jerusalem and he ate pork all the time as a kid. They ate camel too but his dad told the mom it was horse. Then a rib section was brought home and he got busted. Any meat to them was a luxury.

We don’t have Red Lobster here. There is one across the border tho. Love lobster but I can’t eat them. They mate for life. That would just be cruel.

I suppose its where they're caught from and the time of year. I've had raw oysters time and time again and never had a problem.
Ahha just been checking. Oysters sold in the UK are flushed with UV treated water for 48 hours which kills all bacteria.
Never had flying fish eggs before. But I would certainly recommend salmon eggs. Mmm the way they burst when you're eating them is great.
