You know what's the problem with this thread? I tell ya,
every time i see some new post, i think to myslef "that's it, it's out!" , and than all i see is another stupid post regarding gay cats, kaiko's arse or xraph saying " OMG OMG OMG I NEED THIS".
that's why i truly think this thread should be closed now, and reopen again as soon as something happens.

Still, as retarded as this thread has become (capped off by Xarph asking if someone was "really uploading Halo 3 from their ass") it is no where as bad as the Bioshock for the PC thread was. Not even close.

Like with Gears Of War, where the developers had a new generation of hardware to take advantage of so they created a beautiful post apocalyptic world that could only be realised with the new hardware.
But with Halo there are the same sparce wide open spaces with new texture shading and a bigger resolution but apart from that.......... is it not lazy considering the time and budget? considering Microsoft are renting Imaxes and organising celebrity openings like a hollywood premiere?
Seriously, valid opinion on why this rules? And don't label anything objective that doesn't fit with your view a hater because I'd love to know why?

If there was anything revolutionary about the landscape it would have been revealed in screenshots.
And for the record, if people are able to throw flames at people for daring to question the game it's a two way street.
I'm not saying I know what's in the game, i'm asking for the opinion of people that fucking claim to know.

First of all, I didn't flame you.
Second of all, the game doesn't need to be revolutionary, no game does, some games attempt to be to sell copies and to have some bold claim to slap on the box. The game just needs to be solid at what it does. This has been Halo's claim to fame all along. It did nothing new or amazing, but what it did do, it did very well. The vehicles were well done, the graphics (at the time) were well done. The gameplay was solid, the story was passable, the physics (at the time) were well done, and the co-op (again, not new) was well done.
Third of all, a lot of people are hyped for this game based solely on the fact is it another chapter in a beloved franchise. Halo fans love the universe, the characters, the story, the gameplay. We are looking forward to more of this. I should think this sort of idea would be obvious.
People who "hate" Halo don't really hate it as much as they say, they just know it's incredibly popular and they want attention and to get a rise out of the fans, so they act like it's the worst game in history. Some people just enjoy going against the trend. Maybe there is nothing overly amazing in the Halo series, but it is certainly well done, and certainly enjoyable. To disregard such and play the internet anonymity card just to thrash it because you're bored is really pathetic (not saying you did, just saying that's what most people do).

I don't want attention or a rise out of fans. I requested an opinion on why this is held in the same esteem as the leaders in the FPS universe.
I didn't say you flamed me, I was talking about the attempts by people to voice an opinion that this game is overrated who were shouted down with retarded responses about getting the fuck out of the thread etc..
I don't hate Halo, I never said I did, but if it's being lauded as the biggest and best game of the year as a gaming enthusiast I'm entitled to voice an objective opinion about why I think relative to it's peers this is a completely unjustified position.
Is that ok with you mr moderator?

Its the third and final chapter to the saga and also the first Halo game on a next gen console and for those reasons it has to be a success.

I didn't see it being lauded as that, it's being lauded as an excellent game. Sure Halo zealots are going insane, every game has that. I don't see why people have to pick on Halo so much.
And I did give you your answer why people are excited and hyping and going crazy.
Most Halo fans with a decent head on their shoulders would never say Halo leads the FPS industry, it is, quite simply put, a good game.
And don't drag my forum status into this, you can disagree all you want, I don't ban people for arguing with me.
