I think people are getting confused the pcgamer review and the pczone review. Pczone= hard to read, pcgamer= excellent

HL2 set a new standard for the competition for "the best (FPS) game ever"
but what if a better game comes out later. what score will it get? 113% or what?

Well I'm not confused. I have PC Zone in my sweaty little hands, and it 'REVIEWS' HL2 and gives it 97%
I'm sure u guys in the US can get a Brit mag from one of your big news mag stores?

Who cares for reviews anyway? After the reviews Doom3 got i give a fuck about reviews for any game. Reading most of the Doom 3 reviews gives me a big laugh, game magazin publishers or game sites are just too dependant on press samples of games that they can't write an independant or fair review, especially on supposed blockbusters like HL2.

Thats the difference, in the doom 3 reviews they went on about graphics for half the review. In the case of the HL2 reviews, they hardly mention graphics.

maybe that's because doom 3 has the best graphics ever so far and it was made to be a tech demo. the source engine even looks dated compared to far cry. it was supposed to be revolutionary and wouldve been last year but after far cry it leaves it in the dust. the gameplay will be top notch though along with the story and characters. but the graphics are nothing special and will be further left in the dust when Fear comes out.
