I'm guessing that beast weighs like 200kg. Need to be a powerlifter to move it around :-p
Could get a 1080p projector on a 126" 2.39:1 screen which would be as good for 10% of the cost and mass.

I bought myself a 37" panasonic plasma today.
i'm very very happy.
I could have bought the 42" version, but that would be 2big for my living room.

I'm unable to compare a projector to a LCD or plasma. The image lacks something, even in HD, and it's major disavantadge: you need to watch it on a fairly dark environment.
The good side is screen size... yeah, i would surely like to have a 16:9 200'' screen at home
BTW, that one i mentioned weighs around 100Kg, but it's major problem is the amount of heat produced, i would go as far to say that you won't be needing heating in the Winter...

plasma and max res is 1024 x 768 bleh
lol expect some burns if not careful |
Burns are rarely nowadays with plasma.
I'm quite happy now, and the image on the tv is superb with digital tv
why 1024x not good?

Lacks something? What do you mean? Digital PJ's have finally become better than going to the movies, but yes it's true the sitting in the dark sucks for summer. Also, if you have lightly coloured walls, you get alot of light reflecting back onto the screen ruining contrast ratios. Hope one day I have a dedicated home cinema room, black walls and no windows!

Did some research last christmas and found Samsung to be the best technologically speaking. Even Sony started using Samsung panels. I doubt much has changed apart from a price drop.

you like the plasma? ever tried LCD, and how does it compare to them?
personaly i like my LCD, tried plasma once, long time ago, wasnt happy with it... at all. but maybe theres been some changes since 4-5(?) years back |
a friend of mine has a 32" lcd. and it looks very good.
lcd and plasma both look very good. Can't find any downsides on both of them, so i don't understand the plasma/lcd fanboys

Plasma has better blacks, No ghosting on fast moving images, More natural colours, better SD picture display and you can get a bigger screen for a cheaper price compaired to LCD. Only downside realy is when its in direct sunlight.
Heres a link to Panasonics own Plasma Vs LCD comparison -
