Holy fuck..relax brother..did I insult poor little Valve in any way?? Go off and honk on Gabe some more. You won't get the game any faster than when it's released in the store num nuts. Why download it when you can buy it. What happens when you have to reinstall? You have to download the whole thing over again?..You won't be even able to download it when it's released because their servers will be flooded, so when you're sitting on your comp trying to download the thing, I'll run to the store and pick it up.

The preloading phase that has been happening over the past month or so assures half life 2 wont be killing steams servers to hard (or atleast for me) when it comes out. Also if you download it you can save all the counter strike/half life 2 files on a cd and when you need to reinstall it instead of going through a whole setup program all you gotta do is install steam and put the files back in there old spot not to tricky and no redownloading. So think I have the game before you so while your driving to the store i will be painting your house purple because i don't need to drive to get it.

That's cool. I don't mind driving to the store, I can wait..but when I get back and my house is painted purple, you won't be able to go back and play HL2, because you will have 2 broken arms. Smile

Hey TuSeiSkeefoso, you realise they are releasing it earlier then the store date on steam. This is to ensure more steam sales.

So you won't be able to get it as soon as us. Bwhahahaha!

Would you cry babies give it a break, god 90% of you need a good **** or aint old enough. They released something for us to play around with before hl2 comes out, you should all be grateful, if it is a beta, so what, it automatically updates, small problems get fixed. I like the graphics and gameplay is fast as hell, you get bored with the same old maps but the good thing with playing thru steam is you wont have to hunt the net for the extra maps, or anything else that they plan on releasing. So far I think steam rules over buying it from a shop. Ok babies flame away. WAAAAAAAAA

I ordered it on Steam too this morning so I guess I'm ok..btw, I don't think they can release it on Steam before the store date anyways, just my opinion.

P.S. don't compare me to Skyline, I don't irritate people on here like he does, (at least I don't think I do) Smile

I doubt it as well, they are already in a mess with VU. VU has merit to its lawsuit, releasing before VU has a chance to would most certainly have a judge ruling in their favor and then bam Valve gets hit with a hefty sum.

yes but seeing that cs:source and hl2 will sell like mad valve won't give a shit if they have to pay a lump some of money (oh god hahhaa i never thought i'd use that)

In the long run valve wins. People will love the product and if vu says fuck you guys valve won't have trouble finding another publisher that will pay them double if not tripple...

but still cs;source doesn't seem finished... and if that's their final product and if that's how the engine works i'm afraid hl2 might have some issues that were not mentioned in the reviews.

It's possible that the bugs are only in the online version of the source engine and such but what if it's not. THen hl2 will look awesome... will have these great effects but it will lack something great.

I love cs: source and i hate it. It's buggy as hell but i love the little things. Those are awesome. Breakable computers... glass shattering... jumping through shattered glass... blocking door ways (yes i was wrong that's in here Very Happy) and many other things. BUt it doesn't feel as polished as it should for a final product. They had weeks if not months to work out the bugs in the beta stage and they haven't addressed them all. Maps seem rushed. aztec's water is all fucked. Even dusty water gives out a reflection. It's just blah Sad But the little touches give it the extra push it need right now for people to enjoy it

I think they rushed it with those new maps, CS:S beta was so solid, the new maps have some problems though. I havnt played aztech but the level with that busted up mansion has sweet water reflections.

I'm pissed that they did maps like dust2 and that art museum level, yet didnt feel the need to do Militia or ASSAULT!!

They shoulda polled the community on what levels they wanted, not just pick them at random, cause Valve's level choices SUCK (except the new office, that ones the best)

Half-Life 2 = 98% in PC Gamer US!

Highs - Everything: graphics, plot, gameplay. It's what experts have been predicting for this medium.

Lows - Squadmates sometimes get in your way; low-res textures in huge outdoor scenes. "Valve has forged the framework for the next generation of games, demonstrating what our medium can and should be able to accompolish" Final score - 98%!

And how hard is it going to be for valve to make that cracked version not work in the future? Smile

i'm glad i didn't buy a steam package. i'd rather have the actual cd's. even though the cracked version won't work after a few weeks i don't care. it's just better textures, and new shader effects. the core gameplay is identical.

do you think valve release css early to test steams "crackability"? and do you think since it took less than a day for groups to have online cracks etc, that it will push back the release date of HL2 so they can work on the copy protection more? just an idea
