I must say its nice but nothing i didnt see ok some more graphics i think bf2 looks very nice . So you can shoot trees ok . Maybe its me i just didnt see something that make revolution . But ill wait for the single player .

Too bad you cant put settings on highest . only high . i could make all high 1600X1200 AAX8 but why they didnt enable settings to be Highest ?!

Nice game but i think bf2 much more fun . Crysis is another shooter . Bf2 have great physics .
Don't do drugs man... great physics? Well, Jeeps/tanks explode in contact with water....

Had this problem too. GFX kept defaulting to Low. Just set them to high when your in-game and they should stick.

As for the beta itself, i love it. Little pissed the enviroment's not destructable but gameplay is great fun, especially nukes. And the GFX are simple spectacular, way beyond what i was expecting and far surpassing Bioshock. Yet to see it totally maxed out and with DX10. Runs really smooth for me at 1920x1080 with everything maxed, AA 2X.

I noticed a few minor bugs, mainly sound glitches and getting stuck here and there. Also died afew times by walking into a parked car ????. While i would of prefered to give the single player a go, MP is so good it just makes me want to buy Crysis all the more. I think any Crysis Haters who try the Beta will soon change there stance on it.

This could easily be GOTY.

Edit: Dx10 support is disabled in beta. Tried editing CFG, no luck.

Considering the 2900xt was bought out to compete against the 8800GTS i think it did quite well.

Here's some benches:
http://www.tipidpc.com/viewtopic.php?tid=95824
http://au.gamespot.com/features/6170621/p-3.html

Notice that the 2900 pwns in crysis.

I don't care what brand a card is, i'll buy whatever is better at the time. If the benchmarks are good, i'll probly buy a 9800gtx or something at the end of the year. Smile

True, but seeing as this is the Crysis thread i thought it was worth a mention. BTW not only Crysis, it also pwns the 8800gtx in CoH on Vista (yes vista is shit but still); if you go to the next page on the gamespot benchmarks. Seeing as the 2900xt retails at almost half the price as an 8800gtx, it's probably a better buy atm imo.

I was playing again this morning with the new drivers.

All settings on high (for some reason I DONT have this "low" stuck problem).

1440x900, no AA (doesnt work with settings on high for some reason, meh, its beta)

Game was very playable, but choppy until I popped off a few shots to warm my card up to the effects. After about 2 minutes of play though

It was a consistent 30-35 fps. Not bad for a beta with early beta drivers.

Lmao you do know that its not only about fps? Card needs to render gfx too which ati-s card doesnt do correctly. Most games have corruption in gfx or render stuff with way less detail to have faster fps.Ati-s card is pos with no future in gaming. I hope new generation of cards will be much bettar and easier for writting drivers ( this goes for nvidia too(driver part)).

LaughingLaughingLaughing

You do want your card to run most games without any bugs, right?
You mentioned Vista. Try playing anything DX10 on those pos 2900s. You need to install game-specific graphics just to not have graphical corruption, let alone have good framerate.

[EDIT]Dude, all those tests where the 2900 supposedly pwns, it's the Crossfire variation lulz.

My bad... did not know they were fake or so old... Meh.

Yes i did know that it was running crossfire, but if you look down a bit they bench a single 2900 as well. Sure it sucks at most games compared to the gtx or gts but seeing as it's a fair bit cheaper than both of them you get more bang for buck imo. If you're a rich bastard though, by all means get an 8800gtx/ultra.

The 8800 plays most games without bugs does it? This is the first i've actually heard of this graphical corruption with the 2900's.

We all know ATI's drivers suck ass, but nVidia's aren't much better imo yet they have had longer than ATI to iron out the bugs with dx10. Personally i wouldn't buy either atm, and i think you're pretty stupid if you do, especially seeing as dx10.1 cards are just around the corner.

Damn nVidia fanboys. You need to accept that both manufacturers are good and both have their positives and negatives. rant over.

You dont know shit about hardware do you? Im no nvidia fanboy. I allways buy best hardware available no matter who made it. Thats how smart people shop. Waiting for new DX 10.1 card and thinking it will do/look/play anything diffrent is stupid. You will see new DX every 6-9 monthes and thats a fact. Its because stupid people will think omg its like 10 times bettar when in fact it will be same crap with little changes to make stupid people buy new cards.Same was with dx9. Only DX9c brought something new and worth investing money in new card. Other thing is what games need so much power on pc? I only see crap games with shiity gfx or bad coding that wont run good on 10888gtx. When good game comes out it still runs good/great on 1950xt (old and cheap card). As for good or bad points in ati/nvidia... -Ati- Flawed design in hardware stated from when card was shown for the first time, needs much more power, useses 8 pin connector for power which most psu-s dont have, good point is price but its because of all flaws(only fool can think that something good costes little money) -Nvidia- crap dirivers, hard to do good drivers everything else is on nvidia-s side. You can correct me if i am wrong but i dont think so since i make my living of hardware. Like i said i hope next gen of hardware will be much more energy efficient with much more simpler architecture becuse the more complex the card is the harder is to utilize that power. New revolution in gfx chips will be multi core which will be here soon. Until then i dont see reason for people with 8800 or 2900 to upgrade. Btw ati started making drivers 6 monthes before card went to sale. They had final product ready but had massive problems in factory to make a fully working chip.

Not a chance, if you set it to low from the start and press apply and play for alittle while, then change it to high, you'll see a big difference.

No i don't know shit about hardware, i've only worked in the industry as a technician for the last 6 years. I never said you specifically were an nvidia fanboy, it was more directed at some of the other people on this forum that seem a bit biased. I actually agree with most of your points.

Smart people don't buy whatever is best at the time, they buy whatever has the best price vs performance at the time. You're as much a fool to think that because something is expensive its good, just as you are to think that something is good because its cheap.

I agree that "Waiting for new DX 10.1 card and thinking it will do/look/play anything diffrent is stupid" but so was buying a dx10 card when they first came out a year ago with no dx10 capable games released. At least by waiting a year for some decent games to hit the market i can get the upper hand by buying a better card which is being hyped to be more than 3 times faster than the 8800 (not that i believe the hype). It's not like i heard the words directx10.1 and immediately want to buy it because a new version sounds better, i'm obviously going to wait and see if it's any good first. Plus i'll be upgrading toward the end of the year anyway so that's the reason i'll probly buy a new top line card (depending on how good they are of course).

You're contradicting yourself. You wrote "When good game comes out it still runs good/great on 1950xt (old and cheap card)" then later you wrote "only fool can think that something good costes little money". A 1950xt costs little money but its still a good card and as you put it games still run great on it, ffs i have a cheap 7600gt atm and it still runs all games fine.
Then you wrote "i hope next gen of hardware will be much more energy efficient with much more simpler architecture becuse the more complex the card is the harder is to utilize that power" after that "New revolution in gfx chips will be multi core which will be here soon". Multi cores are more complex but that doesn't necessarily mean they'll be less energy efficient. I don't know why you think that multi cores are the future anyway, look at what an epic failure the GX2 was. Though it is being reported that the next ATI card due out next year is multi core, you never know i guess.
Also ATI drivers may have been developed 6 months before they hit the market, but they didn't have a years worth of customer feedback that nvidia had to start perfecting theirs.
Bah over this i'm off to sleep.
