Did you post them on the usenet or the internet.
Because I can tell what the photos are in text matrix style.

i know and i can sound just like a dinosaur but ... i feel better not exposing it
and ... just for curiosity, what dl speed you reach downloading from your usenet server ??? I know i will then eat my nails in envy ...

Holy chickens !$!$ That's quite a bit of dl speed ...
Anyway you probably are right, it depends much on the server and some settings (i've just discovered that i'm using 12 of 20 simultaneous connections, maybe a limitation of the quota block / paypal accounts or on the server i'm trying ... that could be a heavy limitation, i'll have to dig it out), anyway wow 1 MB/s is something astounding, can be told the server he uses ???

Since you're all measuring e-penises I could as well add that my server tops out at about 8mb/s. It downloads constantly at 7mb/s.
But I guess that's what you should get on a 100mbit line...

I might add that I am on Giganews with 10 connections and get that speed (8mb/s).

Well its been said that Blueyonder was going to up their offering to 50mb in 2008 and a 100mb line by 2009. As they were taken over by NTL and rebranded under the Virgin colours I've heard nothing more. Nor have any of the middle managment.
So who knows.

They can barely handle 20mbit, lets hope they don't upgrade to 50mbit any time soon :-p

Depends on the area Noob. They have just cabled up the whole of Newcastle in the last ten years or so. So it's pretty brand new. Plus I doubt that its even close to capacity up here. I suspect that the users here opt for a lesser package such as the 4mb line.
The Southern region that encompassed the more NTL regions is a much older network comprising of prewar telephony lines and redifusion cable from the 70's.

I think after a bit of tuning to have reached a good speed for my 4 mbit adsl ... an average of 360 kB/s with 12 connections
Obviously not comparable to Kosmik or Spikez's buddy, but that's another story.
Thanks to all for the info.
