In your opinion, what is the better connection: Component or VGA.
I got them both but I'm having hard time to decide.
Help me.
Thankee.

VGA is pure RGB, while Component is compressed into YPbPr. I think this should be enough to make your decision simple.

VGA imo.

Component doesn't do 1080 either.

I think that VGA gives more washed out colors in difference with component there the picture is crisp and very colorful.

That was the case with the xbox360 a while ago, before the dash update gave you a contrast setting. Now the colour looks as good on my mates 42" sony with vga or component, but vga wins in the clarity/crispness stakes, only beaten by hdmi (he has an elite). For me can only use vga as i'm using 21" hires crt monitor on my 360 (which used to look washed out in comparison to the pc, but now looks just as good )
go vga unless you have 360elite or ps3 & a tv with hdmi

If the setting doesnt make any difference to you then your tv has shite vga input... it has made a big difference for most other users of vga on 360.... i would take some pictures to show you but a camera isnt going to give a good result.... The setting is with the other screen settings and changes the dynamic range of the output...

Quote...For Xbox 360, in the May 2007 Dash Update, they introduced a new setting called "Reference Levels", this is essentially a Gamma fix for the washed out VGA. It helps alot that Microsoft have introduced the fix at their end, helps us with calibration at this end.

thats a real shame Mortibus, for me it made a huge difference.... i suppose its all a matter of what looks best on equipment owned. on my 21" CRT @1080 the 360 looks stunning, just as good as my pc on the other input (got vga in & bnc in Smile )

I really can't tell much difference between component and VGA on my TV. It was shitty before the update but after I think it's sweet.
