As far as I know UT3 will have some kind of single-player campaign, not only tournaments against bots

From watchin the second dev clip the hoverboards look like a badass addition. I love huge sprawling maps but its a bitch getting around on em. Looks like the UT franchise might just be shaping back up into the kickass fun game it was in UT1 & UT2.

Having trouble deciding if I should just wait for UT3 or pick up Warhawk in the meantime. Never been much of a multiplayer gamer but both games got me itching for some multiplayer mayhem.

how does the hoverboard work? just press a button and you are at third person on a board? can you still shoot while on it? ( I dont think I saw him shoot when he was on it...)

No shooting while on the board. So you are target, but a fast moving one. And yeah it seems like you press a button and jump on the board.

It would be nice if they made it so you could run ppl over while on it, or use melee weapons. Heh, hoverboard jousting would be awesome.

I never was a UT series lover but U3 is surely one of if not the best engine.

Pfft, after that pos Unreal 2 crap, they better keep it dead for good. Uhm, this stands for Quake SP as well.

Unreal 2 was not Epic's work, it was made by crappy Legend Entertainment.

Melee weapons would be good, if they required skill to use. But running over people should be left out, it'd just get spammed to hell and really frustrating.

I hope there is some limitation on the use of the board, like it has to charge up for use or something. Otherwise it's gonna get annoying when you fight someone and then just before they die they skip away on their board.

Unreal Tournament III PS3 Delayed To 2008

One game PLAYSTATION 3 owners won't be playing this holiday season is Epic Games' Unreal Tournament III. Midway had originally planned to ship the PC and PS3 versions this November, but it looks like PC gamers will be the only ones enjoying a cornucopia of headshots this Thanksgiving. Today's financial update from the company writes of the "expected movement" of UT III to the first quarter of 2008. Yes, Midway's fiscal year matches the calendar year, meaning we'll be enjoying the console first sometime between January 1 and March 31 of next year. In other PS3 delay updates, the European version of Midway's BlackSite: Area 51 will see the Xbox 360 version hitting first, with the PS3 version arriving in early 2008. The official bad news for PS3 owners, right after this.

well..i am preety sure they will not miss the holday's sale time, but in the other hand, we saw deleys and other dirty shit from developers in the past so..everything is passable in this market. but in anyway, if it will come or not, november gonna rock with great great stuff so..i will not cry if ut3 will jump to another location;)

Clearly you haven't played UT2004.

There were tons of games that ran like total shit on UE2.0 or it's modified versions (double agent).

Others ran flawlessly on the weakest of systems (UT2004).

obviously the creator of the engine has an easier time optimizing it, so we can expect this to run good and look good.

it takes a lot more time for other developers to learn how to properly utilize an engine to it's full extent so they often run worse and look worse than the games made by the creator of the engine.

Half-Life 2 and Vampire Bloodlines for example.
HL2 ran well and looked good, bloodlines ran like crap and didnt look as good eventhough it was exactly the same engine.

All source games stutter like a Lada... It's a known engine fuck up. Valve later issued some fixes to the engine that lowered the stuttering, but Bloodlines never got those updates because the devs went out of business.

I don't get any of this source engine hate.

I never had any issues with it on my barton 2500+ and 9800pro setup

And I don't have any issues with my 4200+/8800 setup.

Some people just love to bitch, especially if it's about something mainstream. It probably stems from a need to assert their individuality.

Or you know, it's an actual valid complaint. But oh no, could never be an actual valid complaint with AM in the house. He needs to make himself feel like he's better than the masses.
