What panel is this? I will maintain my say that TN panels SUCK (yes, the Samsung LCDs are TN panels).

Plus, with Samsung getting a good monitor is a lottery. They outsource some of their monitors, and quality on those panels is just BAD (Google for comparison).

I have once posted info on this matter, let me see if I can find it.

Right, here you go:
LeoNatan wrote:
Don't get a TN panel monitor. They 6-bit color panels and the colors are just bad. Get an IPS panel, they are true 8-bit color panels.

Read this, and get the NEC MultiSync 20WMGX2.

If you still want a TN panel, stay away from Samsung LCDs. It's like a lottery with them, because they outsource some of their panels (as in most of them, getting a Samsung panel is very rare these days), and the quality of some of the panels are really really bad.

I found this on TrustedReviews.com, on the FP202W, a slightly cheaper model i guess, since it has 8ms response time instead of 5ms wich the one im looking at has.

Quote:
Talking of gaming, the FP202W is a joy to use when you fire up your favourite game. I’m not a big advocate of the “response time is everything” myth, but playing a fast moving first person shooter on this screen is very impressive. One thing that BenQ has definitely done right is that it hasn’t sacrificed quality in order to achieve a low response time – while some manufacturers have resorted to 6-bit panels to get the response time as low as possible, the FP202W uses an 8-bit panel, producing the full 16.7 million colours.

The FP202W is also first rate when it comes to watching video and to put it through its paces I sat back and viewed a variety of high definition content, all of which looked stunning.

The FP202W is an impressive screen for gamers, while maintaining 8-bit colour support for image editing and other colour sensitive work.

Pay a little more and get a Samsung 226BW. It's not a lottery like leonatan said because that monitor won all the reviews of the 22" Monitors because of the 16millions gorgeous colors it has and the magnificient 2ms respond that is excellent for gaming.
But hey, that's my opinion.

And in answer to those sites you've posted here leo, well...i'm sorry to inform you that those news are so but soooo old and outdated...omg...it's true that once 3 models with panel A, C and S was released being S for samsung and A and C for other companies that made the monitors with less quality. So, Samsung received complaints and now they only release models with the panel R which is the only one that is on the market now. And the panel R is from Samsung only. Period and end of story.

I would agree but the "a little more" is near twice the price.

It is rather _SiN_ that you should ask for. Smile
I do not contest the quality of the Samsung, i just point out that it is not in the same price range. If this is within his budget i would of course join this recommendation.

Do you think it's worth spending money on a low budget monitor for later to see ghosting and dead pixels around the screen among another stupid things? I do not think so..i prefer to buy something expensive and pay it by credit and pay interest than pay live money and get home and see a stupid 5ms response monitor which is no good for playing and do nothing unless working in ms word and being at the internet...at least that's what I think.

Oh, and another question: If i wanna play with my 360 on the monitor, what is the best solution? I have never really plugged in a console to a pc before.

I know theres this Xbox 360 VGA HD AV Cable, does that offer full 1080 resolution?

I also have a 8600GT, is it a better idea to plug it in that?

Help plz Razz

The only monitors I know that support full 1080p resolution (not down-scale) are the 24"+ monitors, which are too expensive.

Direct question then:

Should i connect my 360 directly by a VGA HD cable, or through my 8600GT?
