September 25!!!! WOW...that's way to late, should be out like next week end if you ask me. THATS A MONTH AWAY! Hu huhuhu. Oh well...I guess some more modding SH4 and playing BS will shorten the wait

id put good money down betting that the demo is probably going to be over 2 gigs or some shit i dont think developers understand the whole CONCEPT of the demo... brief look at the game WITHOUT having to practically download THE FULL GAME SIZE!!

that makes no sense whatsoever...
have you seen the filesizes of demos lately? for high profile high quality games, 1.5 gigs seems to be the standard now doesnt it? 900mb on the EXTREME low end... full games are about 4 gigs or some are reaching 6
like hell they are 15x... that might be the case 10 years ago, but this is 2007... since broadband has become the standard, developers are getting lazy and think massive filesizes for demos are acceptable...
to compare demos to trailers when it comes to size and relation to finished product, thats just stupid by any measure... well done.

2gigs takes me about 30mins to download here in the UK, so not too fussed about that. No capping or download limits either.
No advertising.

how lucky you are not to live in a third world country like i do, but how fast ones net is, wasnt really what the discussion was about... i was just saying i expect the demo to be massive, and that game demos in general have because massive in size due to lazy developers, thats all.

Man, I remember when demos were 10-50MB and you had HUGE levels are area to explore. Remember remember the Doom demo (err sorry, shareware), you had an entire fucking chapter in there.
Nowadays, if it has a 15min level, everyone cheers.

Games now take DVD9's, sometimes DVD9X2 unless its 3dgayvilla. Two gigs for a demo is nothing. Big demo I would say is 5 gigs. Demo's are gettin bigger, because the games are getting bigger. Higher texture resolution, higher quality sound, bigger maps etc. Thats how its suppose to be and your complain is stupid.

what's the problem with the size?
they're offering a full level, remember what a full level was on farcry/crysis? it's a whole island or something with high quality textures and modelling

how many dvd9 or double dvd9 pc games have come out in the last year? most are still dvd5. dispite what you think demos arent getting bigger, they are getting smaller.. you used to be able to play full levels, these days most demos you get to play the first stage of a level, or get 1 track to race on with only 1 or 2 laps... gameplay in demos are getting smaller and smaller, and the filesize gets larger and larger... to use your 'trailer' analogy, its like saying a 2 minute trailer would be acceptable being 500mb for standard definition.. thats bs. There are compromises to be made, sure, like you said textures and model quality are increasing, but the bulk of the filesizes of demos are not primarily due to these things, but rather to lazyness and indifference.

RSV, CMRD, MFS10, DMOMAM, BIOSHOCK, AOW, SDA and shitloads more are DVD9. Also Crysis demo will feature multiplayer too most likely so take your bitchin elsewhere.

Let's say demo is 2GB. Then I expect full game around 5GB at max. Remember that the game engine takes most of the space. As for the rest it's just placing objects on a map which can be hold in very small files. The game engine also needs to be placed in the demo. Objects can be big as well, but don't make a game to fit on two DVD9's.

Far Cry demo was 475.8 MB, the full game itself was 4? gigs on disc. I'd say Crysis demo wont be a disaster.

It's EA, it won't pull a Bioshock. EA are way too much of a cowards to even think about that option.
