If you have a USB pen it is recommended. as the failure rates of floppies is as high as their age.

Ive decided to go with the USB Flash Drive since I dont have any floppies around the house.
After extracting "iXtreme_Samsung_v1.2 revC.rar" which I downloaded from xbins, there are 2 folders which are "Fast" and "Quiet".
Which "ixtrem12.bin" do I load into iPrep? The one from the "Fast" folder or the one from the "Quiet" folder?

Correct me if Im wrong but Ive found out that the QUIET version of the fw actually makes the discs spin slower making the drive quieter but increases load times.

Better of with the fast version... you never know if ms won't see the difference in drivespeed

I heard with games like 'Gears of War' the game starts while still loading textures if you have the slow mode firmware. Which is a pity becuase i would rather have the slow/quiet version, I wouldn't care that a game takes longer to start.
What would be the ticket for me, is a choice at bootup, like hold a button down for a few seconds on boot-up for slow mode ect.

So I still havent tried anything yet because i ordered the compatible SATA card and it still hasnt arrived yet. So I never removed the original SATA from the dvd drive or anything liek that. About 3 days ago my console kept getting stuck when I was playing the new Medal of Honor demo. But then it was fine when I played other demos. And then yesterday it kept getting stuck again constantly and then offcourse the 3 RED LIGHTS OF DEATH!!!!!!!!!!! finally came up.
I swear I never even touched anything after opening the case but you jinxed me man lol so now I gotta try to replace the x-clamps and crap before I can even attempt to mod it.

The sticker is permanently gone. I even threw it away. Sending it back is not really an option for me.

still, theres 22 pages of thread at maxconsole forums were people have been sending 3rod & banned boxes back and getting new ones. some with stickers some without. lol I don't think they check anymore with the 3rod's.
Although id rather have my 2 xboxes with xclamps replaced than one with the new heatsink. Mine work flawless now and I can put any drive I want to in them since I have the drive keys.

Well all I did really was just open the case. I never unplugged or flashed anything so REALLY I didnt do anything wrong. But I DID open my case thats the problem. And I purchased my xbox 360 at gamestop in July of 2006. I never paid for the warranty though.

A friend of mine Got the 3 rings of death recently.
He replaced the Xclamp and got a different error. He then loosened the screws and got back to the original error code. He then had to do the aluminum shank mod and while he was at it, he did the shroud mod.
Been woking flawlessly since then.

Alright well Ive completely taken my xbox apart:
Ive removed the x-clamps and heatsinks. Ive also removed as much of the old thermal paste as I could with rubbing alcohol and qtip. I have the new AS5 thermal compound ready for the chips but I CANNOT drill holes for inserting big bolts.
My question is, if I get 5mmx10mm screws, will I be able to screw the heatsinks back on?

Removed xclamps. Removed old thermal paste with rubbing alcohol 91% and cotton swab. Then I put a thin layer of new Arctic Silver 5 paste on both chips. Attached heatsinks back onto the motherboard with 5mm x 10mm machine screws. Tight enough for contact with the paste but not crazy tight that it bends the board. This fixed the 3 Red Lights problem.
And then I used a USB flash drive to flash MS25 to iXtreme 1.2 RevC with iPrep.
Disconnected all PC drives and made sure both PC Chassis and X360 chassis were grounded. Followed Textbook's instructions and everything went smooth.
Saved Orig.bin to several safe locations too

No, you cannot post directly from your computer to here.... Best way to go is with Photobucket, or Imageshack....

Thanks. ANd yes I thought I couldnt do it because it all seemed so overwhelming at first lol.
But anyways I have a new problem.... I have the CCCLX version of The Orange Box. Now I have it burned and everything but it keeps getting stuck on the main menu. And also my drive seems to be acting a little weird.
For example: my Halo 3 (original copy) seems to take forever to load.

I went with the Fast one.
It gets stuck on the Orange Box main menu when I stay there for a few seconds. But If I choose for example Portal or HL2: Episode 2 immediately, then it doesnt get stuck. Anybody else experience this?
The rest of the game (besides the menu) seems to work just fine.
