To me that sound what Punkbuster has been doing for years when Hardware banning. It might hurt, but basically you agree to it as soon as you hit Yes after reading the EULA (ppl dont read that crap anyway )

BrokenCrow, hash ID != machine fingerprint, it's exactly what it means.
Just like MD5 hash is not the data itself.

Bioshock does not install any rootkit material (by defenition). What rootkitrevealer is showing is that Bioshock like many many software titles chooses to use a scheme made by microsoft to hide confidential information within the OS. These are usual serial keys, or activation codes, while still stored on the system they do not cause any harm or open the system in anyway to abuse.
99% of the crap going around about Bioshocks copy protection has been blown way out of preportion and is nothing but total gibberish.
The only difference between Bioshocks copy protection and any other software title released recently is the implementation of an activation system which will in time be removed as mentioned by Ken Lavine in numerous press articles.
The only reason why rootkitrevealer reveals anything at all with regards to securom is due to securom/2kgames prefering to keep the activation codes sent to the user after activating the game hidden to stop piracy. This does not harm your system or cival liberties in anyway shape or form. It is no different from Microsoft or any other copy encrypting the cdkey stored on your system so you cant find it.

Thats your choice, but going by the success of the protection scheme used for Bioshock, many more titles will use it. Gonna be a boring time you then I guess with no games to play.

That ONEHITWONDER group or guy is really an idiot. How can you upload all over the word a useless release with a fake crack claiming that it works. I knew that an unkown group could not crack this game.

I still fail to understand why this would be something new! Its done in BF2142 + by Punkbuster since YEARS!. Nothing new at all.

I'm just curious, has anyone tried using YASU to bypass the securom thing? Wouldn't that allow you to use the original .exe of the game without any problems?

If it was as easy as that, you would have seen a clonecd-release from day one.

apparrently there is a mini image on demonoid that works, but you have to install from a retail copy first, so it just works when actually playing the game. However, I'm guessing if you run setup from your HD(not a mounted ISO) with only the mini image mounted it would let you finish installing. I'm going to see in a bit.

sounds good but for one thing; what about the activation? you need the cracked paul.dll to succesfully activate the game, but thats after you got the "not the original disc in drive" error
unless you can put the paul.dll in the 2k games folder while its installing..
and even then, the start button isnt working with the cracked paul.dll

not working for me, using windows xp pro sp2.
just tried that partially cracked paul.dll, activation works fine now, but nothing happens when you press "start". it can't be that hard to get this working.. right?!

My guess is that it is EXCEPTIONALLY hard to crack, ergo no release.

yep running the setup from your HD with only the mini image mounted will get the game installed patch and all. However, you're still screwed when it comes to activation.
