The game was cracked only 3 days and an half after the launch but they will loose a lot of customers due to this protection. That's a good lesson for them.

also, this is a good game, its worth the cash, atleast according to me.

afaik oblivion did pretty well without an uber leet protection

It's worth paying for, but... I would not want an activation procedure to play my game. What if my connection dies? The server is down (as alreayd happened) or they completely stop the service for this game? Maybe 'someone' wants to play this game in 2010, but he can't validate his copy because the service stopped...
In short: yes, they do have to protect their product, but they should not make people rely on something else than their own system (servers, callcenters etc.).

Yes it's def worth the cash, thats why i bought it and returned it because of the technical difficulties

I had it on Preorder for Months!! The minute I heard about that protection scheme I cancelled and held out for the release. If they really do remove the activation in the future like Ken Levine says they are going to I will happily fork over the £25 for it as I do believe it is worth it.
After the Fiasco I had with LOMAC and ArmA with online authentication (Starfarce) I quite simply will NEVER buy a product that uses this method of protection again, EVER.
