Yep you are right.

thanks mate

Just a reminder, currently the activation revoke doesn't work when uninstalling, so you still shouldn't do more than 5 installs(It was increased today to 5) or it won't work anymore.

This has been asked a few pages back and I don't think there was a real answer.

To install the uncut version of the game and have it work with your legit german (or other cut version... is there one?) dvd you need to have both versions inserted/mounted while you're installing the game.

Make sure to start the installation from the uncut release (not your german retail).
At the end of the installation securom should automatically check your original disc and download the exe.

This has worked for me and it loads fine.
Also, don't try to install the german version and then copy all files from the uncut release over... that will only result in a crash on map load.

Has anyone made a clone of there orginal game dvd to see if that works in the drive instead of the original?
Mounting does not work
I wish someone would try this to see if online activation would reconize the clone
Still like to use my legit key and a friends dvd to clone
Shit, I forgot about the size of this game
Thanks

I would like to say that this game duped all the scene guys into buying it. I mean the guys who would have waited for a release have now said "Fuck it i'm gonna buy it...I can't wait!". Ken Levine and all his little minions must be rubbing there hands and filling there pockets....I know there will be a scene release soon, but in the mean time guys are stepping up and buying the game. These sales would have never happened if it wasn't for all the confusion and problems and activation nonsense!!! Plus the fact that this game is a must have. I am savouring every minute I play....NOTE: I always buy the games I think are worthy.....but good on ya Bioshock...gives the developers hope...that for a while cash is coming in...instead of out!!

TBH, Im not so sure there is going to be a scene release anytime soon. Of course I don't know better than anyone else but it's been a while now and there is no sign of anything significant in the works. The real worrying thing about this type of thing is that if it works, it will be adopted by other publishers.

I buy a fair few games but I wont buy games with this type of protection on them. If it does become widespread I think my days of PC gaming will be done. Im all for developers protecting their games but not at the cost of inconveniencing the paying consumer.

I dont blame people for caving tbh. I cancelled my preorder but I am extremely tempted as the game looks like a winner. I will excercise self control however and abstain from buying it. It's not really a question of wanting to deprive Ken Levine and Irrational of their very well earned money, it's more a question of depriving SecuROM of any kind of success.

Draconian protection schemes 4TL Sad

Very true, there's absolutely no point complaining about the protection and then buying it, is there?

I would also guess that after the hype dies down and the game sales slow down....after xmas....they will patch it and it will allow you to install it as many times as you like. Then they will release a GOTY edition with fuck all on it...just to really rub are noses in it!! The "Scene" created the pirate monster and the publishers are doing there best to slow it down....Long live the "SCENE" and Nforce for keeping the developers and publishers working there asses off for the CASH!!!

Steam is the worst CP ever!!! I will never buy it on Steam
I will grab a boxed copy because Kenny deserves the cash.

I'd like to say that I have a totally shitty PC that is 3 years old+ (P4 3GHZ / 6800 GT / 2 GB RAM) and that the game is smooth at 1024*768 with full options...

The water effects are amazing (i only played the demo).

I'm laughing at everyone who boycotted SF, now the competition is dead (i mean even EA stopped using Macrovision), so $ony can do whatever they want with us Smile

It will get cracked, I have no doubt of that but I dont think it will be soon and if thats the case, this type of $hit will start to show up on every mainstream release which would not be good!

It's funny how people are refusing to buy it because of the protection yet the reason they implemented the protection is because those same people would probably not be buying it anyway.

It's funny how you think your pissant boycott of the game is going to make any difference when they see the massively increased sales their protection has provided.
