I have a prob

i need to make a windows vista/red hat 9 dual boot

vista is already installed and i generated a 20gb fat 32 partition for the red hat.

When i install my red hat, it says no device could be detected to install on. I have a MD98300 notebook. Is this laptop using SCSI HDs? where can i find a driver for this?

I m really desperate. I know you guys need more info to fix the prob, so let me know what specifications i need to give, so i can get you guys to find a solution for my prob;-)

why pre-format this partition? you should be able to do a format, create an partition and do an installation within the linux-install-process itself. this way you'd avoid at least possible misconfigs/probs at pre-formatings.

try un-format and install red hat in this area.

btw. i'd rather use a linux-format than fat32 if i where you

do you really need red hat 9? I dont know, but maybe you could try ubuntu to see if that detects your disk.

i'm quite a noob in the linux field, but it has to be red hat / fedora because of the architecture of the programs i need to use...

i have come to the conlusion that the laptop i use probably uses some hardware that red hat does not detect.

So i was thinking, Fedora was better anyway, said my prof, but then i had to grab it first.

So as my red hat cds aint working, lets grab fedora. Now a new problem rises. There are so many folders etc on the fedora site.

I just wanted the latest fedora version that works on my AMD turion 64 X2 TL-50 laptop( dual core)

ftp://ftp.belnet.be/linux/fedora/linux/releases/test/7.90/Fedora/x86_64/iso

is this the good one?
