Developer:Gilligames
Genre:Role-Playing
Release date:Released
Story/Description: Quote: |
From the day you first strummed a broom like a guitar, or sung in front of
the mirror with a hair brush, youve dreamed of becoming a music star.
Now you can live that dream without leaving your home!
In Shady OGradys Rising Star, you start out as a rookie musician, and
work your way up to stardom. However, success doesnt come without hard
work. You must join other musicians with compatible personalities, write
songs, and practice practice practice! Go out on the town, to get familiar
with the local club scene, until the day comes for your first gig.
Eventually, you will deal with larger venues, managers, producers, record
contracts, product endorsements, and more.
Choose your starting city in the continental United States, and conquer
as many cities as you can while on tour. You can even buy a home in each
city, to make visits more convenient than staying in a hotel or motel.
Customize your band with tons of clothing and hair styles, as well as
hundreds of different kinds of equipment. You can even get a custom paint
job on your band van.

Liked Rock manager so maybe will like this one.
The graphics are uber crap but in this game it doesn't matter.

Not just rock/metal. Theres jazz, folk, pop, blues, country, and rap also. Plus you can use your own mp3s for your songs. Actually, the worts things are the graphics, and menu screen. This is a very deep rpg. The part I dont like is having to micromanage, strings, drum heads,..before most every gig. Other than that I recommend any RPGer whos into the music scene to check it out.

Well I did check it out and it's a pretty neat game. I'm totally broke though. What's a good way to earn money? Also how do you get gigs? I've written songs and practiced them and even made a CD, but it hasn't mentioned anything about getting a gig.

Well figured out both things for my own. Got a manager now who is totally useless and hasn't found me any gigs yet. Maybe someday he will find me something. My band is doing ok although 2 original members fought so much I had to kick them both out. Quite a surprising game.

3 ways to get gigs. A manager, an invite from other bands, and going to the venue, checking their schedule, and booking it youirself. Evrything has to do with reputation and popularity. I goofed my first try, but now got the starting mode figured out. I first found 1 good player, and wrote a few songs, and practiced those a bit. You need to go to other bands gigs to earn reputation with them and the clubs. That is what opens the door for your first gigs. After getting a good song base, and filling all the positions, you should be getting gig offers regularly. You need to get a strong local following before a manager will do much good. Making money early on is by landscaping parks, doing side jobs for buisnesses, and buying damaged gear cheap and fixing them up. Battle of the bands in the early part is crucial. You get big payouts and huge popularity and rep boosts. Another key note is stage presence. Your band can only excert energy equal to the lowest stated member without risking injury. So make sure you beef up you lowest stated member with stage presence boosting gear. You still need to push the energy envelope a bit or the club manager will not like your efforts.

Yeah I figured that stuff out. Played for a while last night and got a contract and a did a tour. After that all these managers were calling me up with offers so got this guy in New York to represent me. Now I got a contract worth 500,000 or something that I have to do 50 live shows for. I don't know how I am gonna make it through 50 shows alive. Atleast I got almost a year to make this new album.
