i considered buying it, and im against this online activation for a single player game so im not bothering. ill save my cash for Hellgate London.
if they threw in a co-op mode, game matching service, and no DVD in drive, it might be worth $50 to me, but as it stands its only worth $20 to me. maybe ill buy Half Life 2 instead, still havent played it and its now almost a deal at $20. |
Get HL2, you'll be surprised how easy it is to install and activate it after you've read all the stuff about BioShock.
Keeps you busy too, up until release of a cracked bioshock. ( around 10-15 hours of gameplay, so you should be fine until there is a release ). |
yea i probably will be getting HL2 soon... what bugs me is this: Steam. usually i will buy games, and if i dont like them or will never play it again, ill sell it via Amazon. but i bought Dark Messiah over Christmas and seen now how i cant sell the game because i registered via Steam for the MP (which was terrible).
so, with Bioshock and its activation, are you allowed to resell the game later? |
no

Personally, I hate any type of online activation. |
It's just passed one day and an half after the activation servers were up. If within a week there is no release maybe you are right. Anyway every minute pass without a release more game they sell. |
exactly my point.
I'm just theorising (is that a word?) here, but my guess as to why developers and publishers alike even try to use copy-protection software or, as in the case of bioshock, activation, is just to get a head start on bought games.
Just think of it, usually the most copies will be sold within a week of release. Publishers know damn well that the game will be cracked anyway, but they still try to sell as much copies in the first week, so they get their money in. |
Most copies sold actually peak up until the release of the game, there is technically no point in copy protection after the release of a game, unless you can delay a crack indefinitely, which is pretty damn hard.

this game does not deserve so much hype argh D:!
The death system is just stupid
as i saw in a review
"Sure, the weapons and plasmids are great. But what is the real consequence of how you approach a battle if you can just re-materialize every time you’re overwhelmed? It’d be like playing Pac-Man with endless lives – what the hell would the point in that be? I don't fear for my character's safety because there is no actual final death. So, if there is no fear of death, there is really no reason to fear the environment."

I found in an ini file of the game the function godmode... dunno if that will deactivate the respawning function
okay edited it so that I don't sound like some moron who doesn't know what godmode means

And what do you thinks about Prey? It was quite the same system. If you die, you are in a dream world and shoot down some dumb flying ghosts and revive at the point you died.
A question to those who finished the game already: Can you say, without spoiling too much, if a Bioshock 2 is possible?

Well, you start with zero first aid if that's an excuse.

Has anyone tested this one? |
You would still need a crack for that one, since it also uses the Activation thingy.

anything is possible
just like they are creating a movie called transformers 2....
if some giant superbrainiac dude escapes in it then he would create a new race of freaks or something...like I said anything is possible

Apparently there's a crack which actually *WORKS*.
But only on Windows xp 64 bit...
EDIT: or is it a mere fake like everything else?

It might be possible to get the PacSteam version to work if you can find out the difference between the retail Bioshock and the Steam bioshock.
Presumably Bioshock has some data of the serial, and it won't make that data with the steam version without an ok from Steam, which PacSteam likely will be unable to deliver.

probably an other way to do it....
install the game and copy it to an second directory
now have it activated and see which files are larger or smaller or added or missing
