This release can be made by anyone with a legit steam copy it doesn't have anithing to spare with the pacsteam group. I think he just uploaded the file uncrypted from is legit steam copy in order to put that files on pacsteam so that the software thinks that the game is installed on steam and runs it. It should work because every game that can't be directly downloaded by pacsteam can be runned with this trick.

Btw, those of you who are playing retail already, could you tell us (in spoiler tags) what sort of plasmids you have discovered so far? 70 plus, and all we know of is the trap, freeze, shock, fire, wind..

Hrm hopefully someone can shed more light on this issue. This is DEFINITELY the worst PC game launch in the history of PC games, HalfLife2 doesn't even come close. |

The problem is Steam version also has online activation (SecuROM) that bounds to your conf. But who knows?

It's just passed one day and an half after the activation servers were up. If within a week there is no release maybe you are right. Anyway every minute pass without a release more game they sell.

thats not really true, that every minute without a crack, more games will be sold...
i think most people that pirate things generally werent planning on buying it anyway... if i really loved a movie, ill buy it... if i was indifferent about it, or the trailer, then im never actually going to put money down to buy it, regardless if i can find a download or not... i just dont think theres THAT many pirates out there that habitually download shit because they are cunts. most of us just want the average shit without paying for it, given that we never intended to buy it anyway.
not that im saying this game is average shit, in this case, i simply just cant afford the game.

exactly my point.
I'm just theorising (is that a word?) here, but my guess as to why developers and publishers alike even try to use copy-protection software or, as in the case of bioshock, activation, is just to get a head start on bought games.
Just think of it, usually the most copies will be sold within a week of release. Publishers know damn well that the game will be cracked anyway, but they still try to sell as much copies in the first week, so they get their money in.

i considered buying it, and im against this online activation for a single player game so im not bothering. ill save my cash for Hellgate London.
if they threw in a co-op mode, game matching service, and no DVD in drive, it might be worth $50 to me, but as it stands its only worth $20 to me. maybe ill buy Half Life 2 instead, still havent played it and its now almost a deal at $20.

Get HL2, you'll be surprised how easy it is to install and activate it after you've read all the stuff about BioShock.
Keeps you busy too, up until release of a cracked bioshock. ( around 10-15 hours of gameplay, so you should be fine until there is a release ).

It's also already pissing of some legits users (see official forums).
And they're only gaining some time on the warez scene. True, they might be gaining some sells now. Due to impulsive warezers who want their game the fastest way possible.
But there's also a fair chance that the game will be released in the upcomming days, and won't require any sort of activation. What will happen then ? In a few days, there will be even more legit consumers pissed by the activation system for various reasons. And they'll start Bitching very loudly about how the pirates are having an easier time playing ...
At this point, the protection might be enough of a bitch to actually draw people to the warez version.
Will they loose more customers than they will gain ? Possible, depends on how long before the release, and how many people experiencing trouble withlegit copy.
I'd say, if the warez release comes before this WE, the protection will actually rduce total sales.

yea i probably will be getting HL2 soon... what bugs me is this: Steam. usually i will buy games, and if i dont like them or will never play it again, ill sell it via Amazon. but i bought Dark Messiah over Christmas and seen now how i cant sell the game because i registered via Steam for the MP (which was terrible).
so, with Bioshock and its activation, are you allowed to resell the game later?

I love the chaos when a big fight between the AI ensues, and I am just sitting back, maybe while using telekenisis to grab a few grenades to redirect 'em 
it's downloading the patches now.
(In my opinion one of the best games ever made, or better said, franchises).
