I, too, hate it when the character in FPS's don't have legs. Coupled with the fact that you didn't have any arms when you swam in the water in the beginning, it was a bit disappointing. I can't actually believe how so many FPS gets away with having flying characters

95% turned into a 5-point-rating would be 5/5 as well. You have to consider some kind of deviation in this case.

A reviewer gives it 5 out of 5 points. If he had reviewed it on a percent based rating system, he could have given it 100%, but it could have also been 99% or 98% or any score between 97% and 91%. You can't know.

They do plan on implementing legs and feet as a patch you can download, at least for the 360 version anyway. I guess they figure the PC crowd can create their own modifications in that area.

It would be nice, but I think the only reason it's so noticeable is because of the quality of the rest of the game.

It takes away from the immersion. The other day I played COD3 for the 360 for the first time. In the beginning you are in the back of a truck and it made me feel as if i was a tiny camera in the air. I could look in any direction but where was I??

I didn't bother to play the game past that point...

In bioshock's case, I am even more disappointed because the rest of the game is so perfect. Why didn't they implement it?

Another feature thats vital to a game's immersion is the (cant find an exact word but) movement of the camera with your head... I hope I am making sense. Does this game have it?

IF the fact that you can't see your legs in a game like Bioshock really gets you down, then don't play it, because if thats enough for you to rant that much about it when the game is probably the best single player fps to date, making as much of a mark on singleplayer fps history as Deus Ex did, then you would've just found something else to complain about.

Obviously, it won't factor much whether I like it or not, but because it's so good and atmospheric, these things stand out.

Well said..
This is the best game yet on the 360.
It got atmosphere, superb graphics and very good gameplay.
The level design really stands out and I like the story so far.
You can customize your character with the different powers.
Even set traps for your foes, turn invisble, freeze or burn, etc etc.

I can´t find one flaw, just love it. Very Happy

(Kids are spoiled these days.. can´t see my legs. Rolling Eyes)

It's like ppl seem not to play the game but run and look down... It's stupid... When I'm playing I don't look down, I look forward, so I don't care if there are legs moving or not... They had to find something...

And I of course agree about the Deus Ex part... Smile

Big criticism for me, almost killing the experience is the automatic restart points.

Like, in a game where they emphasise micro-managing ammunition, if you trigger an alarm by accident, what's the point in using valuable health packs or ammo, you may as well die and restart with all objectives still intact?

It removes any anxiety of dealing with the situation at hand?

As an experience it's hard to fault; reminds me of the Shining; but they completely removed any point in actually learning to be adept in their environment in order to succeed.

Yeah restart points are not a good idea... They could at least take some ammo, health packs and stuff like that when you respawn in one of those strange machines... But on the other hand they are just like check points in other games except everything isn't restarted, just the player...

Yeah but the problem with that is you can kill a Bigdaddy with the wrench if you don't mind respawning many times. They should have made it so that everything resets when you respawn, just like checkpoints in other games.

It does ruin the tension to a certain degree. Still, i'm going to play it with the attitude that anything is better then dying.

Seems like such an obvious mistake to make. Like giving infinite ammo and a checkpoint every couple of rooms in a Resident Evil game?, the tension is the point of the experience imho.

Maybe the press kissing their ass every second made them overlook it?

I played the game for 6 hours and I begin to think this game is not that good. The surprise factor of the game goes away and you will have to do allot of the same. Shoot/refill/find health/find plasma. The hacking that is in the game should have been more than 1 type of puzzle. The make pictures of monsters is really stolen from that zombie game that I forgot the name of.

Will tell if the game get's better for me later on Smile because I will finish it Very Happy

hmm oh well... I got the game when it appeared on the net and burned it but still haven't played it yet. Somehow those newer videos killed my anticipation.

The first few videos of Bioshock were so.. atmospheric, it seemed to be an adventure with shooter and roleplaying elements. The guy who played in the videos rarely saw enemies and when he did find one it was usually a tough battle and all.

And then the newer videos started appearing where all the player does is run around killing everything in sight just like in every other ordinary shooter.

And the taking pictures of enemies thing? Didnt know there was such a thing in there.
You probably mean Dead Rising, that gave you EXP for making pictures.
There's of course also Fatal Frame on the PS2 which had you take pictures of ghosts to as a means to fight them off Razz

So question to those here who played Bioshock a bit now...
Can you sneak around a lot, avoiding enemies and playing it more like an adventure than a shooter, or are there enemies everywhere?
