I was on lab. exercises on college when I read this but that POS computer of theirs doesn't allow dxdiag to run, so I couldn't fking apply, and now when I'm home their damn website is down (most likely overloaded by applications). Site worked fine on college comp.
FUCK IT FFS GODDAMNIT I wanted to play this, now I'll be last guy in beta.

Don't know which mmo did you play if you consider it "same same same". I see most variety of things in mmo games, considering constant updates, massive amount of items and areas to explore, hundreds of NPC's, quests and monsters to kill. And that is just the adventuring side of things; on the other hand you have crafting, PvP, RvR, and most of them implement some special game mechanics dependant on the game.
Of course most important factor is multiplayer, because all multiplayer games are basically "same same same" (FPS/Strategy -> same maps played over and over again, with same races/characters), and they're all so much fun to play. MMOGs go out of their way to make it not "same same same".
I still prefer singleplayer games, since I don't have much time for mmo, but whenever I get a break I go on and play one.

It's really your decision if you feel you can spend 15$ a month on virtually unlimited entertainment, because you can play MMORPGs for years (some of em anyway).
I certainly don't have a problem with 15$ a month for a good MMORPG, when you have to pay 40-50$ for an ordinary game that lasts you 10 hours.
Of course if you have so little time for gaming that you can only spend a few hours on weekends and nothing else, then it's probably not worth it.

You have to spend $10-$50 for an ordinary game?
On point, if an MMO is really fun and can keep you interested for a long period of time, I'm all about it. The problem is, most MMOs become repetitive after a short period of time, thus making them unworthy of the fee they are asking. Another novel MMO approach was Guild Wars'...

If you buy an MM the first month is free. How long do you actually play most single player games for these days?
After that you can either say, hey i bought a game and now im done with it or you can continue.
Besides that, with beta apps sent out, I'm VERY excited and hope I get in.

Bah, aren't Beta tests for... Beta testing?! Why are they always treated like free previews? (or not free in the case of Fileplanet exclusive "pay to beta" disease of the game industry bullcrap) Open Beta is understandable as thousands of free-game-hungry noobs are useful for stress-testing, but surely you only want dedicated testers for a closed Beta!
I really hope I get into Beta as I'd love to play a part in making sure this doesn't end up like all (bar very few exceptions) the other worthless MMO's out there.

Theres already a lot implemented that keep it from being a typical game.
But I agree, I want to get in early to hopefully have some weight in posting and whatnot to possibly get the devs to make changes.
Funcom has already been very good at listening to the community and I hope they continue with it.

As long as SOE doesnt take over this franchise ill be happy.
Vanguard is going down the tubes.
WoW is just the same old.
EQ2 was never EQ2
and warhammer isnt out for a lonnnnnng time...
im hoping for AoC to keep me busy for awhile. LOTRO might be a bust. and Pirates never really excited me.

LOTRO should be a bust. I got a 50 hunter with Master Farming and Scholar (which was tough to do) and then the game lost absolutely all appeal. Whack shit.
I agree with everything else you said except the part about VG going down the tubes, as it was never UP the tubes to begin with. Shit from the start IMO.

I don't judge them. Better with a good game than a buggy one that needs alot of patches.

Needs polish, but all the mechanics are there and it has Oooooodles of potential. Some of the classes are still broken, and the delay was well warranted if they want a very good release.

aaaw you are that kind of MMO player. What did you do? |
I'm not THAT kind of MM player. I started off talking calmly giving some suggestions based on the MM's that I've played etc.. he said that he appreciates my input, I told him it was way too PC of a response and developers should come out and tell us what they really think of ideas... it sort of snowballed from there and me calling him a pussy etc...
