A HUGE number of factors are necessary for life and the sun is just one of them.

Without the sun there would be too cold for life to be created here - so the sun is the starting factor.

You guys would be singing a different tune if you were standing on mercury or venus where 'THE SUN' is much closer. The truth is that stars and planets (even exoplanets) are a dime-a-dozen. The holy grail for life (at the moment anyway) is liquid water. But this won't stop anyone from assigning a 'deeper meaning' to any random object. So enjoy the movie. Very Happy

The earth is "lucky" enough to have the proper distance away from the sun to benefit from it. Given the proper natural elements (including water) then the sun can start a process which enable life to spring, the sun is a primary factor for all life... Which makes its role in sunshine perfect and not "random".

The stars are responsible for the heavier elements in the universe, I think.

And yes all life, all energy everything originates from the sun. But Sunshine still sucked Sad

Anyone have problem with this release? I have problem at 1:35:53 when he rips the skin from the arm. The picture hangs for a second. Is this normal or i have it corrupt?

I thought it was an excellent movie. Most of all the psycological elements.

Well I give it 7/10. Saying that it sucked isn't right, but when it turned into a slasher flick that ruined it. Otherwise it has great cinematography and some nice philosophical elements.

most of the posts in this thread are from people trying to criticize this movie, I need only to say something, if this were really a bad movie, this thread would never have so many posts.
