i guess what they mean about designing for the ps3 was that they bought into the hype that it was a super powered badassed game machine, but then they realised that their expectations were too high and the console couldnt handle what they wanted to do, so theyre having to scale back... tsk... when will developers learn that only the mighty pc can ever stand up to developers lofty expectations...

personally i dont give a crap how long its delayed because i KNOW that the pc version will get shafted and we'll have to wait a bazillion years before it gets released for a real gaming platform anyway... oh well.

Qft. All the rumbling about trouble porting the u3 engine to ps3 games and with the id figureheads stating the problems with the console and the tons of delays & cancellations all adds up to reality vs hype. Sure the cell processor is one powerful beast, but for gaming? I think its like cramming a 454 engine into a pinto. The gfx architecture and memory just hold the processor back from all the greatness it was promised to deliver.

Anyways I play equally on all gaming systems but still its a shame that the pc gets the shaft by inferior products with better marketing.

Exactly, and then people ask why "next-gen" (Rolling Eyes) engines are so shader intensive (with effects like bloom, blur, shadows, etc)... Well, they have to compensate for shit textures somehow, so when you have everything bloomed and blurred to death, you just can't notice textures are bad... You just don't see the textures are all Laughing

gta 4 looks ok graphically, hell rockstar were never the kings of pushing the envelope in that area favouring a more stylised appraoch. but where this game will really impress will be the revamped gameplay!!

Had some good times in GTA 3 with the classical soundtrack + mayhem.
Loved Vice City for the 80's theme and Helicopters!
San Andreas - not even going to start...
Don't have any desire for GTA 4 for some reason.

San Anreas was awesome, the other GTA's doesnt come close imo (and i'm not even a fan of hiphop).. I used the bicycle 80% of the time in that game i think hehe, totaly pwned the other vehicles, it had such great control/feeling to it.

Too bad we'll have to wait until 2009 at least for PC version, it'll look like crap compared to other 2009 titles im sure, but GFX has never been the series strong side, gameplay has always been superb though..

gta vc was the best. great 80s atmosphere, the BEST music in the entire series, cool characters and voice acting, and fun missions.

i thought all gta sa had going for it, was the scope of the game-world... the music, the characters, the missions... none of it was as good as vc. well, graphics were nicer though...


imagine if a gta game was made for the pc instead of consoles... phew, man, that'd really show how technologically behind the 'mighty' ps3 realistically is... the new crytek engine would kickass for a pc gta game.

My imagination is great for a GTA game, pity it's not a viable business proposition Wink

GTA is all about gameplay. Always has been, always will be.

Vice City was the best, but we shouldn't highlight this by being dismissive of San Andreas - it was an exceptionally good VIDEOGAME that was struggling with the restrictions of the PS2 hardware.

Even in the trailers the framerate is quite low...

Probably this game will run like SA on the PS2, with some stuttering and framerate issues...
They could have put some work in it to just get the trailer smooth, but even that seems impossible...
