Though I think Atheist are a bit too radical in my opinion.... even though it doesn't really matter.
Though as long as they don't believe in fairy tales, and don't lie to themselves it's a whole lot better than believing in something you've never seen in your life.
I'm agnostic, I don't know if there's a god or if there isn't. It would have been a lot more easier for me to believe there's a god... it would have been a great relief, but I won't and I can't lie to myself, therefore I believe in the truth. And the truth is that I can't know if there's a god or not, therefore I won't bother myself with that matter. |
Quoted for truth.

Hehe, that was a nice flamebait, one that worked as well. Some facts:
There are TWO kinds of atheists:
"strong atheists": these usually have some principal or ideological stance against belief in god and religions. Usually very obstinately against anything christian.
"weak atheists": these are non-ideological atheists, they simply LACK faith in a god or any religion.
The first type usually have empirical views on the world and existence. Spirituality to them is mumbo jumbo or superstition. The second type may very well have spiritual interests, just not in the way christians and other deity-based religions concieve spirituality.
The third group are the ones stuck in the middle: the agnostics.
An agnostic believe in the principle that that which cannot be proven nor disproven is impossible to dismiss. While the logic may seem "right", the same logic applied to there being green snots on the planet xyzzy instantly exposes the flaw in that logic. An infinite amount of possibilities that imagination can concoct will be just as impossible to prove/disprove as the existence of god, hence the stance is imo sort of unstable.
But each to his/her own. I'm a "weak atheist". I don't believe in a god, in fact, I lack faith or belief. I don't spend time coming up with counter-arguments against the existence of god, or green snots on the planet xyzzy. It's pointless since I lack faith in both. This is a concept that is very very difficult for any believer to understand. In their world, lack of faith is a paradox. To them you're either FOR god or AGAINST god. The possibility that there are people that doesn't fit into either of those two categories just fly past their heads.
