Release: august 31, 2007

Rob Zombie's vision of this film is an entirely new take on the legend and will satisfy fans of the classic "Halloween" legacy while beginning a new chapter in the Michael Myers saga. This new movie will not only appeal to horror fans, but to a wider movie-going audience as well. It will not be a copycat of any prior films in the "Halloween" franchise.

Some crazy new Intel came into B-D this morning as we've been informed that Rob Zombie has been hard at work filming new material for his remake of Halloween, which is slated for release on August 31. Today ended seven straight days of grueling filming around the Los Angeles area, which included the addition of six, count 'em, six new death sequences! The film has been given a serious boost in violence, gore and bloodshed... but that's not the big news - we received word that an entire new finale has been shot. Details are mum on what is different, but we're told the new ending is quite gruesome!!

from the workprint release i felt it wasnt anything special. it was definately easier to watch than any of his previous stuff, which is good it means hes growing up. having said that, i think it wasnt boring as a whole, i thought it was good, but not great.

and i will say, hands down, i havent never seen so much sex in a horror film that was so utterly boring... i dunno what it was, but the rape was dull (i seriously cant imagine anyone getting upset by it - shit, hills have eyes 1 and 2's rape scenes were 10x worse), a few chicks flop their tits around but i wouldnt even call it a notable point in the movie... it was weird how dull it all was in this film.

shit now that i think about it, the deaths were all pretty weak as welll... i guess i found the build-ups to be the best bit, and the deaths were really ho-hum... didnt ruin the film for me though, because i enjoyed the suspence of it as we saw the darkness take him. the best bit was the first half when he was just a kid... love what he did to his mothers bf though, that was sweet Very Happy

i found some bits silly/confusing... i guess i kinda have a theory about what happened, but it IS a horror movie, so i guess nothing that happens really HAS to have a reason *shrugs*

The theatrical cut is actually pretty different from the workprint. I've seen both and the one that got released in theaters is better overall. Here's a list of differences between the two: http://horror-movie-a-day.blogspot.com/1978/10/secret-post.html

My honest opinion is that he should stick to the music!
His movies are just watchable, but the music is one of the best. Not counting Educated Horses though Very Happy

well i think devils rejects showed that he is a talented director... the subject matter didnt interest me, but his directing skills were a massive leap over house of 1000. halloween shows another leap in his skills... i dont find his movies that appealing too me but i can definately appreciate that the man has talent... id like to see him take a shot at a thriller or something, rather than horror.

Well I just saw this in theater and I hand it to Rob for not giving two shits what his movie gets rated. This movie follows the same thriller style as they did back in the 80's & 90's. Pointless teenager sex scenes, no real plot and lots of killing. And the killing was done sweetly, didn't give a damn if he gets rated R or M, they show skull bashing they show it all. I didn't like how they had meyers start out this time instead of being locked up in a room like he should have been but I give it an 8/10. And he had a great sound track as well Very Happy
