So I thought screw it and got this game. And I learned to play it quickly even though I know nothing about rules of rugby and the game itself don't explain them much ether. First, the game has a lot of content. You have World Cup, couple of regional cups, some leagues and even something that looks like master league from PES where you start with low division club.
I love the graphics. Sharp textures, great animation, and no stupid hdr or bloom that you see in fifa or nba its more like PES or Madden.
I don’t know how its played on higher difficulties as I’m only getting used to lowest of three, but so far I really like the gameplay, not something that I expected from ea sports.
Oh, and is it normal that when its high windy AI’s kicks are always straight while mine are swerving like if the ball was filled with helium?

ok after giving the game a go... (on hardest level)
-- Typical EA sports game.. its the exact same as rugby 2006 with a few bits of upgraded dog turds
-- The controls.. what the fuck .. now i dont know if this is specific to me orthe game.. but some buttons it wont let me push two at the same time,. eg pressing spint,.,. sometimes you cant move left ... (using the keyboard) .. thats the game breaker for me
-- Graphics are the exact same as 2006.. stadiums seem to be a bit better done thou
-- You still have painfully low control at the ruck
-- DROPGOALS .. what the fuck!! the computer seems to go for fucking drop goals ALL thE TiME .. this is imho a MAJOR flaw... in real life it just does not happen like this..
-- It does seem harder than last years which is great.
So overall....7/10 .. (last years being bout 6/10)
IF that control problem is widespread then ill take that down to a 2/10
Ill give this game a thrash today (sunday) and let u know my final score 2nite

PS taken from another forum
Pros
----
* Getting in the clear and being brought down doesn't seem to mean the instant turnover that it usually did in '06 so flow is somewhat better.
* The offload seems a bit more realistic now.
* Passes seems to find their targets a little better in tight situations.
* You can now clearly see where free kicks are headed in terms of the touchline.
* Some nice new tv style camera views, like the way the camera stays behind the kicker now.
Cons
-----
* On a PC the menu system still stays low resolution and unintuitive.
* On a personal note my favourite camera setting (the one that switches the view when on attack or defence) is gone. If that was your fave camera setting too, then the defaults are hard to get used to.
* Adjusting of camera zoom/height is limited to certain preset views.
* The play speed seems to have been changed. Game tempo appears unrealistically fast at times.
* Whoever decides player stats is still useless.
* No Air New Zealand Cup or otherwise.
* Some of the 'generic' players are now the referees from '06. Either a bug or some very senior players are on the scene these days.
* Selecting of the 'defense patterns' isn't exactly what i'd call intuitive.
* Midfield is still where all the AI defensive holes appear (think McAlister in Melbourne).
* Jason Eaton's digital mullet just doesn't do justice to the real thing. Chris Masoe still has no neck and a giant head.
* Don't care for the new scrum and lineout angles, they seem to have gone backwards in this department.
* basically Rugby '06.5

Dude, use a controller like anyone with common sense would to play a sports game and you'll be fine. There are A LOT of keyboards out there that will not always register two key presses simultaneously...that's the flaw of the keyboard itself, not the game controls.
