Nope, battletech is not a manga. It shares a lot of similarities with manga and anime design styles in the mecha genre tho', there have even been lawsuits,hehe.

That should have been enough to tell you it wasn't manga, you don't watch manga, you read it. Manga are simply the japanese equivalent of comic books, you were probably thinking of anime. Animation series that are almost always based on manga.
There's a ton of mecha series if you like that genre btw.

Sorry, that was a misleading post I made earlier.I should have added that Battletech isn't an anime either because it's not japanese made.The term 'anime' only goes for animation made in japan, and possibly Korea.
Battletech the animation is american made AFAIK.Never seen it myself btw. Is it any good?

I'm not knocking you guys, but out of interest what is it that you like about this stuff? my mate loves it and ive never understood.. in my opinion the art work looks quite ridiculous.. those overly huge eyes - thinly disguised little girls with huge boobs.. really stupid facial expressions which are totally out of context with whats going on in the movie/cartoon/comic at the time.. plus the worse thing of all why on earth do the Japanese not create animation in thier own image? why make them look like stupid caractatures (sp?)of westerners?
I love Jap RPG's on the ps2 but the stupid looking chars really spoil them for me..

I dont care for the mainstream anime style, but not every anime/manga has huge eyes and the other things you pointed out, some are uniquely artistic and intelligent.

altho i do like some of the films [not the ones with unlimited amount of series]
films like Ghost in the shell,Vampire Hunter etc
with good english voice acting not the squeaky japanese ones
personaly know a person who watches gigs of that streaming shit everyday and i must say it does affect on how u think/act afterwards
Anime isnt about whats on the surface, its all about the storylines and depth of characters from some of the most bizzare minds on the planet! watch Akira,Ninja Scroll,GITS,Devil Man,Doomed Megalopolis,3x3 eyes and tell me your werent shocked at some of the content!
Also the japanese see themselves with a big flaw that being their eyes.....they see wide eyes as beauty hence the portrayal in anime.

It all started after World War 2 when the U.S was stationed there. The Japanese animators tried to imitate the American cartoons, but they weren't able to draw the same way, hence characters with big eyes and such. Nobody ever went to trying different styles, strangely.

I guess the lot of you - a few people excluded ofc - never saw a Donald duck or Mickey mouse cartoon huh? Now there's some some friggin' huge eyes. Anyone would be hard pressed to find an anime or manga that could rival that level of eyeballness.Fuck, even Homer Simpson has far bigger eyes than your average anime/manga character.
@Spykez : First GITS movie was awesome. A true masterpiece imo. Bear in mind it's twelve years old by now tho'.If you are actually one of the few people who liked appleseed then I think you'll like the second one better.The visuals are far better, enormously better even.
^Agreed theres also Ghost In The Shell: SAC which is a series I enjoyed not only because the quality of the anime was superb but the story was again very engrossing.
btw anyone here a member on noated? or similar anime forums? ^_^
