I have the same setup & it played it maxed out with 2AA.
My GT is heavely over clocked (and volt modded), but you shouldnt have any problems...

I said playable. A game on 30fps is playable. Still, it doesn't deliver the same experience as 60fps does. Games could be playable with digital controllers. They wouldn't deliver the same experience or control as analog controllers, but they would still be playable.
Specifically about DiRT, the developers didn't want to work that hard on controls. You can try any dual analog controller and the steering's horrible. Grab an X360 one, and all your problems with steering are magically solved. I don't know what goes about wheels, but I imagine that if your wheel's not one of the four that DiRT has a preset for, you still need to mess around with advanced settings to get the same level of control as supported controllers. A game that only supports 5 controllers and is practically unplayable on anything else, that's what DiRT is.

Same error message with both versions, 1.0 and 1.1
With or without crack, I get the same error.
My computer:
AMD XP 2400
1,5Gb RAM
NVIDIA 6600GT (has pixel shader 3.0)
ABIT NFS v2
WTF is wrong? Why some people can run the game and others not? Seems an stupid random error...

Game requires a SSE2 processor. AMD XP is not a SSE2.
* AMD K8-based CPUs (Athlon 64, Sempron, Turion 64, etc)
* Intel NetBurst-based CPUs (Pentium 4, Xeon, Celeron, etc)
* Intel Pentium M and Celeron M
* Intel Core-based CPUs (Core Duo, Core Solo, etc)
* Intel Core 2-based CPUs (Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Quad, etc)
* Transmeta Efficeon
* Via C7

FIXES
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PATCH 1.2:
* Fixed a bug where some saved games were being corrupted during the save process. Saved games are only usable by the PC and user that created them.
* Includes a new set of leaderboards. These are separate to the existing leaderboards which will remain visible for people playing version 1.0 or 1.1.
* Also includes fixes of patch 1.1
PATCH 1.1:
* Fixed a bug where entering the options menu inside the game with no active sound card present would cause the game to crash.
* The game will now display an error message and prompt the user to quit the game when graphics settings are set beyond their hardware capabilities.
* Fixed an issue where on rare occasions vehicle's bonnets/wings would be invisible on entering a race.
* Corrected the minor miss spelling of Portuguese in the game.
* Fixed a bug that caused the game to crash when regaining focus from another application, or the desktop.
* The sound mixer now defaults to SOFTWARE, for improved game performance. D3D and OPENAL are still available, for higher quality.
* Increased maximum Head-cam movement speed by 50%
* 5 axes mode support for Thrustmaster "RGT Force Feedback Pro" wheel
* Fixed a bug where Force Feed Back on controllers would stop working after the user returned focus to the game.
* Fixed a rare bug where it was possible to drive your vehicle before the start lights had gone green.
* Ultra graphic settings modified slightly to be usable with hardware of today.
* Improvements in performance of both internal audio, and external OpenAL drivers

The car steers in so mutch like only 50% of the front end steers. dn the back can't keep up.
Or maybe my 4000+, 1gig ram and 7800 gtx isn't fast enough anymore? |
That hasn't been fast enough since January 30th. 4000 = AMD shit, 1 gb ram = not enough, 2 or more, 7800 gtx = not top-of-the-line even when it first came out. Get a better computer.

This is the most unoptimized game ever.
Even on high end systems it does not run as it should. (I am talking about 2gig ram, 2xgeforce8800GTX, and quat-core pc)
Damn, thats pitty.

Patch is basically a protection update so be warned, it renders the image useless (probably about 24 hours till its cracked mind you)
Starfarce is such a joke, all it does is screw over legit customers! I cant believe some publishers still use it.

some people here think that cards of today that don`t have dx10 are SHIT now , don`t worry about , you still have to this the best DX9c card there is , still the dx10 generation (its a marketing word because 8800 only has Pixel shader 4.0 thats only available in dx10) its gay with they still beta/ running like shit drivers and a forced OS change that would plaed fine on Xp

DX10? What DX10? Only 'good' game to support it is Lost Planet.
8800 is much stronger than even a 7950 in dx9. That's it.
Now, Dirt asks for insane hardware and runs like shit (meaning unoptimized), so to run it well on high res, you need a good PC.
