Since the original nforce forums are gone (and the alpha topic is no more), does anyone still have the info on how to set up the original half life using the alpha graphics? There was something like this wasn't there?

Indeed, I like it how they instantly bring the bad news about there being no Half Life 2 multiplayer game. There only is CounterStrike, even with the same plain original CS levels. That's a big NO-No for me!

Also, I noticed the review stating an internet connection is REQUIRED for HalfLife2: gamers who get the game must first register at Valve's (Steam?) system in order to 'unlock' the game. I thought this would only apply to the Steam version of the game, so does it apply to the 'real' one as well?

If so, release groups might have a hard time cracking it

they can crack Discreet's dongles so they can also crack the HL2 shitty protection, and we all know how valve is mastering the security

I tip i can give to everyone is to record when playing (using the console). I´ve started doing this in game were it is possible and it´s alot of fun watching yourself play. And HL2 is the perfect game to record cus there is alot of stuff your probably would want to save.

And U just need 20 gigs on the HDD Rolling Eyes

20 hours sounds like a perfect amount of time to me, thats double the length of fable. Smile

I'm sure those 20 hours are full of variety, and as long as it's a blast while you play i'm not worried. I loved max payne, but that was rather short.

I'm sure mods will make sure it'll take a long time before you get bored of the game.

Anyone know the length of the original HL?

i bet the reviewers rushed threw the game as quick as they could do to get the magazine out as soon as possible.
they probably cheated aswell Rolling Eyes
valve say 32hours for a good player.
gabe said it took his dad over 40

for all the people that find Half Life 2 too short with 20 hours of gameplay, play the game on HARD settings, you will have all the fun in the world at a longer time

for the score in PCGameplay (90%) which is low, although they like the game very much, they also say it is the best game so far, the score would be at least 6%-8% higher if there was multiplayer deathmatch, they like to play multiplayer on their lan (they write about that often in their mag)

so the score is as good as the PCgamer score (96%)

greetz,

KrackHead

PS I caught Gabe on another lie, he said the game was played in 36 hours, now it seems 20 hours, but still longer than most games!

What is going to be so great about a DM mode? You honestly think it will have anything worthwhile?

You think you will get the manipulator and grav guns? WRONG. There is too much phsyics going on there to properly be reprented in an MP mode.

The most you would get is the basic pistols and machine guns from the SP mode. Is that really what you want? It's like a watered down Counter-Strike on different maps. Maps that could be created easily for Counter-Strike.

The physics use that will be in SP would have no effect in MP. I don't see what you guys are looking for... Do you realize all of these things?

It would be the most generic multiplayer game you could possibly think of, and I bet most people would complain "Boring MP!"

Counter-Strike I think was a good decision... And I don't even like the game much.

At any rate, we've all been saying it and I bet it will be true.. the mod community will make this fast, but it won't be much at all. Remember that.

would be cool if you could shoot down barrels and containers on your enemies Smile or how about when you run out of ammo you grab a radiator and knock your opponents out with that instead Smile that would rock.

BS. You could do that in the beta so I don't see why you can't do it in the final version. I ran a server with the beta version and had lots of fun with a couple of friends playing with the physics. We used the manipulator and the gravity gun without a hitch. There will be just as much physics going on during MP if you want to.

Physics in CS:S are accuratly portrayed for all players, when the guy next to me shoots the barrel it falls over and I see it, so why wouldnt the physics works in the normal game?

The only difference is a slight (half second at most) pause before the object physics kick in because its on the server side that they are being manipulated, not on client.

The whole genius of HL's story was that it's there if you care to think about it. It's not thrust in your face, you can just run around killing things and not even think about it if you want. I'm sure some people didn't even notice the administrator skulking about.

But for the people who enjoy a good story, it's there, you just have to be looking for it.

actually, I've got a couple comps here and when we play CS:S together the physics don't link up. The barrels will usually be close, but all the misc trash isnt synced up at all..

A couple of friends?

A couple is not 24 my friend. Unless people want your precious HLDM mode to mirror Doom3 and have max 4 people.

As soon as you get those high numbers in there and people start fucking around with objects in the world things get really ugly.

And yes, Counster-Strike has plenty of players and you may recall a few boxes and barrels, but that is not much, and people are not interacting with them very much at all.

Of course it's possible, but it would be very sluggish and buggy that it just wouldn't be smart to do it.

Hmm what about the Co-op part in HL for playstation? There is a Guy in a wheelchair and he seems to be in charge though I don't know if it's just Anomalous Materials Apartment or the hole facility! Confused
