I have a AMD 4000+ atm, my friend said he would give me a amd opty 165 for free if i wanted it. Should i stay with my 4000+ or go with the opty? any help would be great.

If it's not broke, i can fix it

So you think i will get more out of the 1.8 Ghz dual core than my 2.4 Ghz single core cpu?

Depends on your actions... The 2.4 will run single-threaded apps faster, but the 1.8 will (probably) run multi-threaded apps better.

if u gonna use it as dual core then go for it, if u think it will be faster in games [there is small amount of them that support it, u might even have some compatibility issues] then don't bother
after all it's free, no?

Yeah it is free, and i mainly use my computer to play games, and of course browse the internet. I just figured to ask to see what you all thought if i should go thru the trouble of swapping it out or just keep what i have. I think i am leaning towards just keeping what i have in this machine and maybe just see what happens.
