I am using a dual layer dvd and either Alcohol %120 or Dvd Decrypter and it says there is not enough space on the DVD to burn the image file. This is the Reloaded version. Anyone else experience this?

I did, I'm going mad, I need to free that 8 Gbs from my HD, and no, I will not delete the game without burning, so, how the f*ck, can I burn that dvd?

the dvd is 56 Mb's oversized, the crack is 60 Mb's, is it advisible to edit the iso in ultraiso and remove the crack dir from it? if I try this, will the dvd still work afterwards?

It's safe to remove the crack.
I would try to delete one of the padding files, i don't think they are necessary.
But before you burn such edited image, try to install the game using daemon tools.

I found this one on cd-2-dvd forum. Rolling Eyes
PS: I have not test it...

COLIN MCRAE DIRT DVD9 TO 2X DVD5 (ENGLISH)

***DVD5 ONE***

1] Copy the contents of the DVD9 game to a folder on your desktop called DIRT

2] From this folder remove & place on the desktop these files.

Data6.CAB
Padding.Dat
Padding1.Dat
Padding2.Dat

3] Open the SETUP.INI with notepad & alter the line

EnableLangDlg=Y to read EnableLangDlg=N (quit & save)

4] Burn the contents of the folder using the volume label DIRT

***DVD5 TWO***

1] Delete everything from the DIRT folder on the desktop except these files

Autorun.INI
Autorun.EXE

2] Place the files that you removed earlier on into the DIRT folder (These would be)

Data6.CAB
Padding.Dat
Padding1.Dat
Padding2.Dat

3] Open up the Autorun.INI & edit it to look like this

[autorun]
open=0
icon=autorun.exe
label=DIRT

4] Burn the contents of the folder using the volume label DIRT

Install the game once it needs the right file it will ask for the next disk.....

Once a crack is out for this add it to disk 2..

Well, I took the crack out of the iso with MagicIso and it burned and installed fine. Unfortunately the game doesn't even start up just like the demo I tried awhile back. I just get an error. Too many reasons why buying this game would have sucked for me even though I never planned on a purchase. The same goes for Lost Planet. I get the same error in the demo. I guess my computer is old crap now.

Sounds fishy. Try deleting all padding files, recompile and it should fit to DVD5.

I can confirm before i even tried the game i deleted all the padding files.. fuck knows why they are there as all it does is knock it upto a dual layer.. maybe they reckon we cannot purchase dual layer blanks or something? anyway it works fine without the padding crap

Installs and plays fine straight off the HD

Well, i tried it and it works, don't know what the padding files are for, but i left them on. Just to be on the safe side. So i burned Dirt onto 2 dvd's and it installed without a problem.

Thnx for the tip

I believe the padding files are there to optimize the reading speed, by "pushing" the real data to the outer tracks. If it was there to make warezing and copying more difficult they wouldn't have so obvious names !

If you delete the padding files you will free sth about 3,3gb, its still not enough.
To fit it to dvd5 you will need to delete some files from cabs.

Here is a new one. Still from cd-2-dvd forum.

1) Create a Temp folder on your hardrive.
Name this folder: DIRT. This will become DVD1.
NOTE: When burning DVD1 use the name (Label): DIRT

2) Copy all the contents from the DVD9 disc to the Temp folder.

3) Create another Temp folder on your hardrive.
Name this folder: DIRT2. This will become DVD2.
NOTE: When burning DVD2 our Label will still be: DIRT (NOT DIRT2)

4) From the DIRT folder move the following files to the DIRT2 folder:

Data6.CAB
Padding.Dat
Padding1.Dat
Padding2.Dat

Also from the DIRT folder, Copy (NOT Move) the following two files to the DIRT2 folder:

Autorun.ini
Autorun.exe

5) Using the Notepad, Open the SETUP.INI (in the DIRT folder) and edit the following line:

EnableLangDlg=Y

to

EnableLangDlg=N

Then Save it.

6) Using the Notepad, Open the Autorun.ini (in the DIRT2 folder) and edit it to look like this:

[autorun]
open=0
icon=autorun.exe
label=DIRT

7) In the DIRT2 folder, create another folder/s for any Updates, Serial, Patches and or Cracks etc.
NOTE: Name this/these folder/s whatever you want.

Cool Burn the contents of the DIRT folder to a DVD5 disc using the volume label: DIRT
9) Burn the contents of the DIRT2 folder to another DVD5 disc using the same volume label: DIRT

NOTE: Start the installation using DVD1, once it needs the right file it will prompt you to insert DVD2
