the game is on pc now......BUT ITS A PORT OF A CONSOLE GAME. lol how hard is that to understand? and you want them to remove buttons for a controller that is supported out the box??? why should or would they do this? so that when people plug in their 360 pads to play the game they dont see anything to press to continue in the menu? yea that makes A LOT of sense.
heh and get reay to see loads more games to display 360 buttons. or have you still not heard of GAMES FOR WINDOWS.

get ready to see this fool complaining that LOST PLANET shows 360 buttons as well.... lol
BUT ITS ON PC NOW THEY SHOULD REMOVE THE 360 BUTTON ICONS!!!!!! EVEN IF I USE THE 360 CONTROLLER1111

Listen im not the one who started this i simply ranted about how stupid ms are because of their lazyness i mean they want people to buy the game and vista but they cant even make the game without porting it over from crapbox and then they are too lazy to fix the menus and stuff, i dont care if it SUPPORTS the game thats not why they have the xb buttons there its because they couldnt be arsed with changing them too something that fits PC and i didnt say remove the buttons completly did i? All in all they are lazy money greedy bastards.. But i never bought the game so who am i too speak? That still dosnt give you the right too go bashing on people or flame them.. with that postcount you would think this guy has some brains but i guess its all trolling and flaming eh? I'm able to run it on XP, but it won't let me continue past the 1st level unless I activate the game with a key. Anyway to go past this?

This is a European forum, even though it requires people to communicate in English it doesn't give anyone the right to moan (more so in the way you did) about how well someone knows the language.

How about you worry more about not getting yourself banned by me for flaming people, and less about how people type. If you have any major issues, tell a mod or be constructive.

2 official warnings for this, due to the huge number of complaints (MTW).

dont put your money on this but i believe i was told a few hours ago this was discussed for 2 pages or something along those lines so i investigated and came up with this:

you have to take the mf.dll from the XP patch, toss it in C:/windows/system32 then take the MF.dll (from razor) and put it in the game directory then i believe you can play all the levels, sadly i can not test this because for some reason when i launch the setup it conveniently sits at the "Installing Halo 2 for Windows Vista" screen while a nice green bar goes from left to right for an eternity

I installed with the loader and can also start Halo 2 under XP, created a profile but when I want to play the campaign and select the difficulty nothing happens anymore. When I press escape I go back to the difficulty selection.

well, seems that lots of ppl are having problems installing or running this game.here works perfectly,so i resume the steps i made to get this thing to work.

i just followed the info on the patch.

quote:
Installation Instructions:
1) Extract the archive.

2) Insert the Halo 2 DVD
in my case it´s razor version

3) Run Startup.exe on the Halo 2 DVD using the included Loader.exe
Ie.: Loader.exe D:\Startup.exe.

for ppl not getting this step,it´s pretty easy.run the console for xp,or go to start, run program, and type cmd
now type the route where you extracted the patch.in my case i put the loader in i:\halo2 ,and muy dvd driver is e:
so it goes like:
i:\halo2|loader.exe d:\setup.exe

4) Install the game.
i used the custom install

5) Install XLiveRedist1.0.6027.msi and vcredist.msi from the \redists dir on the Halo 2 DVD.

really important.make sure you install this ones

6) Copy the following files into the directory you installed Halo 2:
dwmapi.dll,MFPlat.dll.. mf.dll
about mf.dll go to the end of the explanation
you also have to copy wow.dll and XTaskDlg.dll on your game dir

7) Finished. To play the game, run halo2.exe using the included Loader.exe
Ie.: Loader.exe "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2\halo2.exe

in my case i put the loader on the game dir,and created a batch file.to make a batch file, just create a text document and call it "whatever.bat"
after that you have to write the route to your loader.exe and the halo2.exe.

in my pc:

i:\games\halo2\loader.exe i:\halo2\halo2.exe

well first time worked perfect, but after completing the fist part (the bomb part and when you go to earth)the game asked me for a serial number.
so the mf.dll is not cracked.just put in your windows\system32 directory the mf.dll that come with the xp patch, and use razor mf.dll in game directory.
and voila!!!play the game

hope it helps

Instead of batch file you can make shortcut to Loader ex. on desktop. And add to target object example:
"E:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2\WowLoader-0.2\Loader.exe" "E:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo 2\halo2.exe"
Change shortcut icon to halo type and voilà!

Now I go kill animals to feed my family and after that I go play Halo 2 in my cave!

i tried on 3 different pc and still cant go through installation.
when i choose installation path the installer whines :
"This computer's performance information has not been created.
You should create performance information on this computer before running Halo 2 for Windows Vista.

Click Start, Control Panel, System and Maintenance, and Performance Information and Tools."

I press "Run" and the installer dies.

I got the performance warning AND the warning about my display drivers. I ignored both and the installer continued.

Also I had to copy the mf.dll from the Xp patch to my x:\windows\system32 and have the cracked/razor mf.dll in the game dir. Seems to work fine, but I'm still at the first level.

P.S.: I can't believe how much this game sucks. Hmpf, I'll try to play it anyway, so that all this wasn't for nothing !
