Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

  • Genre: Action / Adventure
  • Theatrical release: US/UK 22 May 2008
  • Rated: TBA
  • Length: TBA
  • Plot outline:
    Quote:
Producer Frank Marshall has confirmed that the film is set in 1957, making it nineteen years since The Last Crusade, thus acknowledging the real-life passing of years between films. Indiana Jones is having a quiet life teaching before being thrust back into his old adventuring. He races against agents of the Soviet Union for the crystal skull. "The theory is they are shaped by higher powers or alien powers or came from another world, or an ancient Mayan civilization had the powers", Marshall explained. Indy's journey takes him across New Mexico, Connecticut, Mexico City, and the jungles of Peru. Several scenes take place in central Mexico. There will be some humor regarding Indiana's age.

this.. is such... a bad idea... not only has spielberg obviously not seen phantom menace, but noones told him lucas was involved in that messy 'franchise revival' as well... this movie WILL do well, but purely on the strength of the previous films... i still cant believe they're doing this....

yeah but lucas obviously holds a hell of a lot of control over the film even though hes not directing it... and as for spielberg... well he aint no spielberg if you know what i mean... his films of late dont come CLOSE to what he used to do... i agree the cast looks great, but great casts dont mean great films...

Dunno. I really LOVED Munich, Minority Report and Catch Me If You Can. Even WotW was quite watchable despite the presence of Tommy and Dakota.

then perhaps we just like and look for different things in movies... i miss the old style adventure films... i miss his old style... to me, minority report was good, and yes... PARTS of wotw were watchable... but compared to jaws, the original indy films, jurassic park... i really miss those days..

Ah, well, yes. I know what you mean. I miss that too. But I wanted to say that Spielberg is maturing, not degrading.
Moreover, he's quite clever, he knows what people expect from an IndyJ film (no CG, pure action/adventure) and I believe he won't deceive us.

really? that late? it had cool cgi but the whole story was idiotic (i mean yeah, remake the original story, but atleast try to update it to make it a little relivant to modern standards) and surely they should have invented an oscar for most annoying character ever in film, just for that dakota chick... yeah i know it wasnt her fault, she was just acting how she was told, but whoever concieved of such an annoying character should be shot. that little girl in the movie needed a good smack upside the head to hopefully knock what ever was loose back into place.

Plot:

The soviet army is looking for some crystal skull in the jungle (South America). Indy is doing the same. Then russkies capture Marion Ravenwood (from the first Indy movie) and blackmail Indy to get the skull for them. Shia LaBeouf is Jones Jr. but Indy learns that at the end of the movie.
