same shit Razz but when you choose to install in the menu did you click on the play halo 2 for windows vista or customize game install? when i take custom game install then i get an error saying the game is installed already but Play button works it installs about 4.2 gig on HDD

After sending bomb game gives massage about activation and quit to menu. In vista was fine. Maybe MF.dll is not cracked.
BTW where are located save games under xp? Checked in documents- none.

Yes i can confirm that it is over afther the bomb Smile I copy over the razor crack and it is mutch bigger then the file from no-grp. But when i copy over the razor crack the game gives a fault when i start halo 2 Sad

I downloaded the "Halo2-RaZor1911" release and used the "Halo_2_INSTALLFIX_iNTERNAL-iND" Startup.exe fix. And then I downloaded the XP patch so I could install it on Windows XP, used the loader and so on, the install worked like a charm and I followed the instructions for the patch.

I started Halo 2 and configured the Video settings and the game restarted, and from then it gives me bluescreens every time I start Halo 2 (It didn't give me bluescreen the first time i started Halo 2) and says that the nv4_disp.dll has encountered some problems or something.

I've uninstalled my old nVidia drivers and installed som new updated drivers from nvidia.com, but that didn't help.

What's wrong?

NV4_Disp is the main NVIDIA driver file so check for updates if you haven't already.
(Current computer I'm using has a 7800GTX with the leaked/beta 160.03 drivers usually meant for the Quadro serie, game works fine and runs like it should but I'm only on the first map.)

EDIT: Heh, nice to see a XP patch released a few days before I upgrade to Vista.
(New computer, might as well upgrade everything wich includes going from XP to Vista Ultimate x64.)

EDIT2: Seems you already tried the latest (Official 9x.xx?) drivers.

EDIT3: Halo had problems with forced AA so try to set that to application controlled if you haven't already, guess there's not much of a change engine vise betwen Halo and Halo 2.

here too display that warning, and when i press RUN to skip it the installer exits with no messages...

clues?

i hope i dont have to put whql drivers.
i have gef go 7900gs and i cant go back to nvidia 89.63...

Now that you mention it the installer did complain about the drivers I used wich I guess is from that these are XP drivers and doesn't use Vistas new driver model and as such are not identified by the installer as a proper driver.

I just ticked the "Don't display this message again" box and allowed the installer to continiue anyway. (Run/Don't run if I remember the names of the message box that appeared correctly, obviously I choose run.)

I also did a custom installation and choose to install now, play later since the installer and game doesn't really run in XP without the loader and choosing to play while installing would probably just crash the installer since it doesn't use the loader then.

Hope that helps but this is more technical and should probably be moved to the support section of the forums before this thread gets filled with tech related posts. Smile

tried on 2 laptops with good specs. no results.

the installer finds unupdated drivers, complains about a certain "performance test" and doesnt continue after "RUN" pressing...

wth?

Yes but i tried the razor crack afther i run the game so maybe that is my fault. Maybe it helps if i copy the crack over before i start the game (the crack from no-grp and razor differense in size so i think the no-grp hasnt been cracked!

The 'NoGrp' thing isn't a crack.
Copy mf.dll from NoGrp into \WINDOWS\System32 and copy mf.dll from Razor into your game directory.

I turned off AA and AF and Halo 2 works now but I can only play the first level, and then it says that I have to register to play? Sad

And the game is so damn gay-optimized, it doesn't work so well on my computer om middle settings:
Intel P4 3.0GHz
1GiB PC3200
GeForce 6800LE
Windows XP Pro SP2

It's not even good graphics... >_<

Just tried the XP patch everything works fine, even windows live for Vista, i created my silver account, but when i tried to enter in online mode it asked for the halo 2 cd key :/, so if anyone got a copy of halo2 or wants to buy it, you can run the game on the XP without any problems, everything works.

restart Halo 2 and you should see the normal menu with the Campaign option...you can play the first level...no idea whats doin after that

Followed the instructions, then copied MF.dll into sys32 folder & put Razors MF.dll into the halo folder. Followed instructions to launch & it works... No problems at all running on max settings Smile

Well the stupid part is that this patch is pointless....unless you want to play just one level then sure go ahead and download it, but you cant get too level 2 because of the activation crap Smile gg "NoGrp"

First off, even if the activation wasn't solvable, it would still be useful to legitimate customers.
Second you need to pay more attention.

you can play the other levels...i dont know how i did it, with the Halo 2 map selector but still...total pain in teh arse, i might just go buy the game since i can play it on XP now
